I'm new to the forum & need some help relating to a 2018 430i M-Sport with the 4 cylinder B48 engine that has covered 24,000 miles - the car is UK spec.
When the car has just been started from cold & is at idle a light tap on the throttle produces a horrible metallic rattle that seems to come from the top of the engine (it's a much louder/deeper noise than lifter tick).
Once the engine has warmed up a little the rattle doesn't happen.
I was lucky enough to be able to check out another 2018 430i that had only covered 6,000 miles - it made the same noise from cold although to a lesser extent.
Has anyone on here is experienced the same noise or know what the noise is?

I don't really know what the cause of this is, but my car (U.S Spec) had a similar issue not long after I bought it. also a 2018 and it actually only happened after I got my car tuned, and for a solid few weeks, maybe a month or so it was like that. When i replaced my charge pipe i decided since the throttle body was open i would take a look inside and see, and the sound itself was the throttle body. I think maybe the motor for the drive by wire makes a aweful noise when the engine is cold. I haven't heard the issue in almost a year since replacing my charge pipe, and getting a new tune.

Sounds like something isn't closing properly after your initial startup (and the car finishes its terribly loud cold startup feature) Our cars are incredibly loud and rattle from the cold-startup feature. Your video is on a close facebook page, try and upload it somewhere else and re-share.
