N20/N26 JB Plus or Dinan Sport to JB4

Has anyone gone from a JB Plus or Dinan Sport to a JB4 on their N20/N26?

Would be very interested in hearing how much of a difference you saw between the two.

For the X1 the JB4 has full E series wheel controls and in dash map switching, really cool interface. And great performance gains.

JB plus. It gives you the exact same power as Dinan but 100 bucks cheaper. I've been running mine for close to 3 years on my 335. Once I flash mhd I'll be putting the plus on my wife's 320 I'll chime back in once that happens

I've currently got the Dinan Sport (which I have no doubt is very similar in performance to the JB plus), thus why I'm really interested in what I would gain by going to the JB4.

Thanks Mike, that is some good information to know.

On the interface side, I'd probably end up going with the bluetooth adapter and the mobile app.

I currently have Dinan sport as well and am going bootmod3 in the near future. I should have the car flashed in the next couple of weeks. I would recommend you do the same. If you're willing to wait, I'll do a full write up on the switch once I get bootmod3 installed, and after that you can decide if you want to make the same switch I am going to

I know this one has been argued many times, but given that I still have CPO warranty coverage I'd be leaning towards the JB4 since you at least have a chance of removing it and avoiding detection.

Mike, I know there is logging and I would expect more flexibility in what you can do. But what can you tell me about the performance gains of the JB4 versus the plus & Dinan sport?

So it looks like I've found my answer in that it is basically boost control only versus a much higher level of control.

All which ultimately provides a safer tune while giving smoother and a bit more power.

I'm still under CPO as well, and bootmod3 is reversible and no more easily detected by dealers than JB4. after flashing back to stock with bootmod3, the dealer would only be able to see it was tuned if they looked through engine data and saw the car wasn't running in accord with stock tune parameters. the same exact thing could be done with JB4. no difference there.

I know you asked for mike but, while I'm here lol... yah, JB+ and Dinan sport only control boost via TMAP sensor. JB4 controls boost as well, but also other parameters as it connects to more sensors and thus has more control. however, don't expect smooth power from JB4. I don't think it will be much smoother than Dinan/JB+ if at all. I can't speak from experience, but generally, really smooth power can only be had with a flash tune. Piggybacks just don't have enough command over the ECU to deliver smooth, clean power.

This. I, too, am under CPO and while I have more than just bootmod3 to worry about in terms of warranty claims (lol), for some claims, I just flash it to stock, lock it up, and take it in. I have a more flexible shop that is tolerable of my mods, but I do that as a precaution. Assuming you only had a tune (and maybe an intake or something), you would be safer with the flash IMO. Also, +1 for not having to go in and mess with plugs. Plug in the computer, flash and lock, take her in. Get her back, plug in, flash and unlock.

You choose what's best for you of course, but the flash will always get my votes due to safety, power, and ease.

Max power is very similar but the JB4 offers smoother power delivery and a lot more features that make a big difference in the real world

the switch is worth it in my opinion
