4GC - Tint issues, warnings, advice?

Just ordered a 4GC and the first thing I must do is get it tinted, however I wanted to inquire on these cars since I'm new to BMW. Any known problems or things to watch out for when getting these cars tinted? I ask because I know these are frame-less windows and that means rubbing on the tint when the doors close. Also, I've had a car in the past that was known for scratching front window tint if you didn't put moleskin over the window guides. (learned that the hard way)

So just was curious if there is anything I should know... thanks!

I have a 2015 435i coupe and the tint shop had an issue with both the framless windows and the dot matrix at the edges of the window.

The frameless window made it so he had to sit in the car with the door closed so he could apply the bottom part of the tint, since every time you open the door the window adjusts down / up when you close it.

The dot-matrix isn't a problem proprietary to any particular make or model.. it is just difficult to deal with since there are small deviations in the texture window which makes it difficult for the film to stick.

I have heard of some instances where people will actually sand/grind the dot-matrix down to provide a smoother surface for the tint to adhere to.

Interesting... there must be a way to turn off the window roll-down. I'm guessing just a battery disconnect or something. I'll have to investigate!

There is a button you push on the side of the door to keep the window from coming down when the door is open. Most good tint shop should not have a problem with this. All frameless coupe has this option on the car, not just BMW

While open, Push the door latch down. Tricks the door into thinking it's closed and rolls the window up..

If you can't find the button to keep them up, just pull the fuse. Easier than disconnecting the battery and having to reinitialize everything.
