BMS Stage 1 Tune - CEL: P12A5

Hi everyone,

I've run into this code twice now, first time BMW replaced the Intake pipe pressure sensor: 13-62-7-843-53. Now, 6 months later I get the code again.

My tech at BMW told me to take off the tune and clear the code for the time being. So far it hasn't come back, he said he see's this code come up quite a bit with cars that come into service.

Does anyone else run into this code? I've really come to enjoy the car with the tune. Does anyone have a solution or should I run a different tune???

Not a code I am familiar with but try to read the code with a BMW tool so we can see exactly what the description of it is.

Hey Mike,

Here is what my friend texted me. "Absolute pressure sensor, intake manifold, plausibility: Intake-manifold pressure too high"

No idea, I might try another Tune to see if this alleviates the issue.

I hooked up my DashCommand app and went through the different sensors that it reads and came up with an "O2 sensor undetected" error. Never had that pop up before.

So hooked mine up to a Snap-On scanner and found that the fault was associated with the "cold side intake air pressure measurement too high". This tells me that the plastic charge pipes are beginning to get too flexible with the extra boost from the tune. I cleared it and I'm going to see if it comes back. I shook that charge pipe a little and I'm not too convinced that it's supposed to move that much.

Just replace it.. OEM chargepipes are the worst for increased boost.

Definitely a charge pipe issue. I used to get this intermittently of 4-6 months gaps with the Dinan Sport + tune, same code, high boost. I would simply unplug the tune for a day, clear the code, reinstall and be okay for a couple months. Since upgrading both charge and t/ic boost pipe, the code has not come up.

BMW hasn't been able to figure out how to make a reliable charge pipe since 2007.. Its kinda sad

It really is... They either crack or the clamp flies off to be left on the highway (Looking at you, N55)
