Acceleration issue

I have noticed an intermittent issue where my car seems to lack acceleration. my foot will be 3/4 of the way to the floor in 2nd gear but the RPM is only rising slowly. It is still smooth and seems to last a few seconds until I change gear. then its fine. Like I'm in a higher gear but definitely I'm in second.
any ideas?

what kind of help do you need? it has 136 horsepower, so sluggish acceleration imho is normal.

this is not normal acceleration. occasional it is very very sluggish.

I understand its not a performance car .

you should do computer diagnostics then.

It's always very difficult to determine the cause of an intermittent issue. 1st step is to have a full diagnostic check carried out. You never know what the logs say. If it's ok, then persists with the car till the issue is more frequent at which time you would have a better chance of fault finding. Perhaps a firmware update might be in order for your car as it may be a possible transmission issue.

The OP stated this to be an intermittent issue, possibly a transmission issue, not a continual poor performance issue. Besides, my son has a 116i and it doesn't have "sluggish acceleration" unless it's in EcoPro mode. Then again, so would a 340i.

Maybe it's in limp mode. My 335i did the same thing an no lights popped up on my dash or nav screen. Dealer pulled up the code and replaced the auxillary fan (?)

Did you remember to release the handbrake? I was driving around the other day and got a drive-train malfunction only to realize the handbrake had been engaged the whole time.
