Fond memories of a fun, yet challenging, car. My Dad warned me about the purchase, but I knew better. |

1985 325 ... White ext / Blue int. Crank windows and sun roof, cassette tape.
Cheeeep insurance, very important. Was safe, reliable, easy on gas, fun to drive and enough power to in and out of traffic without issues. Kids are cop magnets ... pick a bland color, no F&F mods and you just blend right in ... all the same fun of driving without tickets. |

New '68 Chevelle, Grotto Blue with white vinyl buckets, vinyl top and pin stripes.
Spoiled brat 16th B-Day present. Had a Bridgestone motor bike before that. Back then you could operate motorcycle on "learner's permit". |

Holy crap! We had one of those when I was growing up. A huge dark green one with green vinyl interior with the 455.4 CID engine! It didn't get MPG, it got GPM! That thing got rear-ended by a drunk in a pickup truck, slammed into the passenger side rear quarter by an Oldsmobile, and slammed into on the driver's rear quarter by a Chevette. Thing was a tank! None of those did much damage to the car. Good times...good times!

1975 VW Scirocco, used with a rebuilt Rabbit engine, an under dash Craig Powerplay FM/Cassette and Pioneer 6x9's cut into the rear deck. I'm pretty sure that all the '75 Sciroccos (two wipers, not one) have dissolved. Literally.

I'm loving this thread for the US metal, Googling for the stuff I don't know. Favourite so far is the 1972 Buick Electra. Star of many an imported American show.

It wasn't the prettiest car in the world, but it was big it was relatively fast and it was comfortable. And yes, on the basis of its bulk alone, it was a safe car to be in.

Thought it was implied, my bad. A relatively high percentage of people who have an F30 for their first car will result in a relatively high number of car-novice questions, such as "how do I paddle-shift my slushbox the fastest when I'm 'racing'" and bench racing BS about "what to do at the track" from people who have never been to a track.
We've all been there over the years, some people here no doubt in the pre-internet days, and others on forums of cars not costing $50k+. |
