Using octane booster to go from 92 -93?
Hey guys
I currently only able to run 92 octane (Seattle) with my N20 JB4. Jon and Mike both said to use at least 93, so was wondering if anyone has any experience with using those 108 octane boosters in a bottle to mix wih a regular fill-up? I assume one wouldnt dump the whole 108 octane booster bottle in, of course |

I'd pass. The car's computer will self adjust Ignition timing to prevent knock regardless of octane. I have heard turbo cars are not so tolerant toward lower octane but have no direct experience. Bumping octane to 108 seems pretty high.
It seems to me the real difference in octane at the pump is the price and percentage of ethanol. I go 0% with shell 91. Slightly better mileage equal to the difference in price. |

If you are lucky it might raise the octane by 1/4 a point and that's if you are lucky. Just because it says 108 Octane booster on the can doesn't mean it will take it there. I buy racing gas for my Cuda and it cost me $15 a gallon. 1 pint of that crap won't do anything you will notice and unless you are planning on making a ton of boost the 93 will be just fine.

The only ones that work are the NOS race or other MMT based octane boosters. With a JB4 installed you can monitor timing advance and look for drops indicating you need a higher octane for the tuning you're using.

Update: I logged a few runs on 92oct Map 2 with AFE intake and MPE in comfort, sport and eco, 4th gear up to 6500rpm per instructions from Jon at BMS. He said everything looked good from the data.
