Mpg On F30 335 Sedan Sucks !!!
Hey Guys,
So Idk if its me or its my car or just the BMW 335 f30's engine. But Ive had my car a little over a year and surely been noticing that I have to fill my tank quite frequently. Its kinda irritating being that even when Im in traffic in Eco mode the gas drains pretty quick aswell. I get about 300 to 350 miles on a full tank. I feel I go a few miles and burn 15 to 20 miles lol. Is it me ? Is it my car in specific? Or is this a normal thing ?? If it isn't how can I fix or improve this? Thanks |

I'm never in ECO mode and I can get atleast 350 on a full tank. I'm probably 75% comfort and 25% sport mode split between city and hwy driving.
Also keep in mind winter gas is in effect so that may be some factor. But it all depends on how you drive at the end of the day.

Your MPG is fine. Remember you are in NYC, one of the most congested cities + Stop and go traffic in the world. I get around 260~280 per fill up. Its only a matter of time
My MPG is 17 |

But for a car with its power, it's not that terrible. I'm on Map 2 with JB4 getting 15-17mpg...My STI friends see numbers in the 8-9mpg range sometimes. |

I live in a coastal area where it's mostly "normal" highways and no real traffic. Around town I can average in the high 20s, and on a 100+ mile trip I can get into the mid-30s, all in Comfort mode. I have MPPK and MPE as the only powertrain upgrades.

Remember you have an Inline 6 and not 4 Cylinder. 300-350 a tank is normal. I'm averaging 30 MPG, 370 miles to the tank in Comfort mode. I'd say try to enjoy your car much as possible and don't stress MPG.

I'm getting 17.6 in West LA. This is normal for our kind of driving in the city.

27mpg in sport mode
75% highway though. City driving absolutely DESTROYS gas efficiency.

Overall in LA with a little freeway speed driving in addition to stop and go, it's always a 20 MPG average. Get out on the open highway and it will be 30 MPG or so.

Gas is relatively cheap right now. Use that right foot and enjoy the 335.

I get anywhere between 350 to 370 with about an 1/8 of a tank left. I do mostly freeway. I'm very much satisfied with its gas consumption.

I would ask why someone would choose the 335 over the 320 or 328 if fuel mileage was a priority.
Personally I think the fuel consumption on modern turbo cars is amazing. But then I come from an era where I got 8 mpg in my 66 GTO. Of course gas was about 40 cents a gallon back then. Bottom line is make sure you get the right tool for the job at hand.

Man, reading posts like this makes me glad I got the diesel. 650-700 a tank(highway), roughly 48mpg on the highway. 36-38 with city driving(average around 600 in city)

335d f31 would have been the automatic goto for me. I test drove the e90 335d a couple of years ago, and it was an absolute monster compared to the 328d. The 328d is peppy enough for everyday driving, but no match for the 6 pot.

The 335d for me only if 6MT. Drove a 6MT 320d (328d in the US) in Bavaria and Austria and it's plenty fun.
