Overwhelming Center Dash Speaker
Why are car makers, include BMW, installing these overwhelming center dash speakers? This is my second consecutive car where I have to change my settings to minimize its influence.
For those of you who like surround sound, make sure you fade in the tone settings a couple of notches towards the rear of the car. Otherwise, the effect is that all you can hear is a blast of sound from the front center of the car, negating all the others.

I do the same thing. First thing I did when adjusting the sound.

I don't have a sound balance problem with it, but it certainly reflects in the windscreen easily enough as does my HUD's dash frame cutout.

The L7 logic takes a 2 channel input (ie stereo music) and applies a kind of surround sound logic to it, which utilizes the centre speaker more with the goal of making you feel more enveloped in the audio.
Many people don't like this effect for music. |

Its for staging, a lot of people who aren't into sound systems don't usually care for it but if you compete or do a lot with sound they will judge you on staging and how much it resembles the band is performing on a stage(your dashboard).

Seems counter-intuitive.

Music is recorded in stereo. Applying logic to replicate surround sound changes the music. Some people may like it while others may not. I just happen to feel that the centre speaker is overused when L7 is used with music.

I played around with turning this on and off today, and it sounds to me like the L7 setting boosts ALL the speakers. They all sound tinny and quieter to me with it off.
