I wonder if the front M replica has slightly more room for 255 than OEM |

I dont get your question? OEM are 9s and reps are 8.5, so 9 has more room for 255 tires. I have the reps with 235/40 and is perfect.

No the M bumper isnt changing anything as far as room for the tires. I just spent a lot of time looking at diameter and width of tires and the 255s seemed far more likely to work and look right. As I sent to Kabrich...I cant stand stretched tires where there is any wheel poke. No offense to anyone here but that looks so odd to me plus does anyone here really want to expose the wheel further to curb rash... Second is tire diameter, which you dont see as much but a tire too tall for the car, wheel, etc and that looks odd as well. Like my grandpa in the 80s who would want as much tire sidewall as possible for a cushy ride on his Cadillac. doesnt look right on these cars or really any cars these days. To me, lower profile is always better as long as the wheel/tire fender gap can be reduced by lowering. And assuming you dont have to drive on crappy roads like up in LA where you would bend wheel with too low a profile.

The width for a 245/40 19 is 9.65 inches vs 255/35 is 10.04. So you can see the 255 is a slightly wider tire providing more coverage, less poke. Not as tall but wider than the 245/40...but nearly spot on with diameter from stock and of course, no one minds having wider tires unless they rub, which they dont. |

Was leaning towards 245/35 and 265/35 but now reconsidering that for 235/35 265/30. EDIT: Done. Putting on the Continental SportsContact 6 235/35 265/30. Too late to change now. Last edited by Kabrich; 12-07-2016 at 04:59 AM.. |

Tire size comparsion...taking a life of its own:)
Yes, 235-35 is a bit of a stretch for 9 inch wheel. Recommended is 8.5 maximum. Anyone unsure, I say this respectfully because we have some that have done this over and over and others that are newer and learning by asking these questions. Just know there are a lot of variations that will work, some trying different options and some personal preferences. What I did by going with 255-35 fronts and 265-35 rears was trying to stay close to the OE diameter to keep my spedo reading accurate but also I wanted it to look great and be proportionate relative to the fender gap when I lowered the car so there wasnt any rubbing. And as I mentioned previously, no wheel poke where the wheel sticks out further than the tire. To note, I think I saw someone mention something about a 245 vs a 255 and that a 245/35 would reduce poke over a 255/35. If I misread that, my apologies. But thats not accurate...A 255/35 is wider than a 245/35 by almost a half inch, so the 245/35 would be stretching tire more and have more wheel poke than the 255. |

Could be, but as someone with 255 on front recommended it (Steelerfan) I had to give that a lot of weight, especially as I am using a tire that has not been tested on this setup. Would rather be safe on what would work.

These pics are with the M5 wheels. resizing the M4 wheel pics now
Update: 10 days ago I removed the B8 Sport shocks and Eibachs, (incorrectely said B6s before) and installed the Bilstein B14 covers at Supreme Power. Going to post in classifieds the B8s for $150.00 great deal and they were only on for about 3,000 miles. Also now going to be posting in classifieds the car too because over the wend I bought a 2015 M4 Cab. Anyone looking for a great car, check it out as I just did the coil overs and about 2 to 3 months before that just had Irvine BMW install the Limited Slip Diff. The car is a 2012 with 48,500 miles, CPO until 2018 or 100k miles and Extended Maintenance Plan until 2018. Will be asking $26,900. [QUOTE=pkancel;19804449]Update with new photos after having it dropped. Just installed Pro Kit Eibachs and Bilstein B8 Sport Struts and Shocks. These photos are the same day it was done, it has since settled even more slightly. No gap at all front or rear and has a little rake from front to rear still. There is no poke at all. To remind, 255-35-19 on OE 437M 19x9 et 29 on front and 265-35-19 19x10 et 40 rears. No rubbing in front or rear. See pics, sorry not better quality but click on the picture and it should open a larger view. Last edited by pkancel; 05-13-2018 at 06:59 PM.. |

Sorry to be a pain but Photobucket has shafted the thread & I’d love to see the pics!
I know you’ve sold the car, but if you wouldn’t mind putting a few pics up that would be great! |

M437s
Here you go: 255-35-19 on OE 437M 19x9 et 29 on front and 265-35-19 19x10 et 40 rears. No rubbing in front or rear with the car lowered and I had my BMW dealer add the limited slip which made the car even more fun to drive with the Sprint Booster as well.
