Aqua planing warning never seen before

I was driving to work yesterday, no destination was set in the nav and a message came up on the display advising me of a driving hazard.

There was a mini map on the nav and a secondary message on the binnacle advising of aqua planing potential. I don't know how it knew but it was spot on
But more interestingly I have never seen the system do this before.

Pretty cool.

Has anyone else seen this?

You have Pro Media.

It will show urgent alerts, such as road closed, debris on road.

Have seen fuel spill, but not the aqua planing one.

It will also give you options for diversions.

It will also remind you to stop for a coffee after a couple of hours driving.

What part of is this? Means that I have to buy a second SIM-card for using it or have I just to activate this elsewhere via the menu?

It just does it, not sure if it's regional specific though.

Likely relies on RTtI.

Someday technology will advance to the point where one could take a picture of these map icons and place said picture within the words you're typing.

Dare to dream, I guess.

Yeah apart from it being illegal to do that when driving...

Someday, we'll be allowed to pull to the side of the road to take the picture. The law might even let another person ride with us who could take the picture.

(This is all pure speculation, of course, since neither of these two scenarios is available right now, either.)

I took this picture years ago from my driveway. I didn't even have to plan a route.

The warnings you get a different to the usual Nav Screen showing roads closed or diversions.

It is a block of text and or graphic saying road closed ahead / flooding / object in road ahead etc.

Also appears in black panel (and I believe HUD).

Funnily enough, when you get one of these warnings, you don't really think 'oh I better pull off on to hard shoulder and take a photo'

I've seen accident, object on road, narrow lanes come up on the extended display in my F80 (NBT nav) but not on my wifes' 2013 335 (CBC nav). Wonder if these warnings are part of the NBT upgrade?

I've only seen road closure on my 2013 335's extended display

I believe "accident" only shows up in the HUD.

I've never seen narrow lanes or object on road, they could be part of the NBT upgrade.

It's not sign assist, it's part of the Nav.

Huh, my F10 warned me of a demonstration/protest near me and, as it turns out, the taxi drivers from the airport were going on strike... didn't expect to see that pop up on my iDrive

So the Nav shows the Road closed sign itself? Cool gadget. Never saw this before.
