435d brake upgrade options

Am I being dumb here. Coming from VAG there was hundreds of options for everything all under one roof but for bmw it seems hard to find any kind of one shop specialist.

I'm looking at brake upgrades I have the bog standard setup and not the most sport blue jobbie so I have to admit I'm not sure where I am starting from.

Option 1 - m sport upgrade retro fit - question does this option require coding?

Option 2 - leave the rears, and fit some M5 M6 6 pot calipers which I'm guessing won't need coding?

Option 3 - after market options???

Any help appreciated

Main factor is how much do you want to spend?

M Sport or M Performance can be coded, but I'm not sure it makes much, if any difference.

Well I can get the blue m sport for about £2000 or £1500 if I get us spec from site sponsor.

I want to be close to the grand mark in all honesty but thinking the m5 6 pots will be sweet over the 4 pot m sport up grades.

Are there options like stop tech? Or can we steal them from lambos or Porsche like I did in my VAG days

Not really on the 435d I would imagine, as it already has the same 4 pot front calipers as the m sport ones, just with 30mm smaller discs.

Wait until a used set pops up on ebay, just make sure they're the 370mm front disc type.

Surely for the cost in this to go from 340 to 370 inst really worth it or am I missing something.

Stock to M sport yes for the look.

30mm larger front discs, and upgrade to 2 pot fixed rear calipers from single piston floating calipers plus up from 300 to 340mm discs, so it might make a difference.

Or, just get some Yellowstuff pads and the M Performance grooved and dimpled discs at around £400 for the fronts.

For the front brakes if the calipers are the same wouldnt you be able to just buy the larger discs and carriers?

Oh so the standard are already 4 pots just in grey. Lol woop.

Ok so my other option is after market or fitting some m brakes with 6 pots which I am guessing no one has done so I'll need custom-made carriers?

There's no carriers, the different calipers have different length mounts built in, so you need the correct calipers.

I doubt they'll fit without changing your wheel hub, but you never know.

Do you do any track day driving? Seems a lot for a simple brake upgrade when the standard ones are fairly sufficient?

Where's that from?

I'd rather buy a bit extra and buy a proper big brake kit than fork out full price for the MSport blue brakes.

Completely agree. I've got a tourer (so as heavy as it gets with a 3 series), with a remap, and on the road the brakes have never faded. You could get fiercer retardation of course, but I wouldn't want to be driving on the public roads in such a manner that this was what I was thinking.

On track however, even with yellow stuff pads, upgraded fluid and braided hoses my car had cooked it's brakes within a few laps. If you are going to track these cars then the brakes seriously curtail the enjoyment, in which case a BBK would be fantastic.

@Tengocity - what fluid are you running? I ran Castrol SRF and performance friction pads on my last car , yellow pads were always laughed at on MLR

Motul dot 5.1

I had a chat with CA automotive about pad options and BBKs and also Kevin Bird about the Alcon kits he sells. Mulling things over, but it's going to be about £3k if I want a BBK!

Are the brakes on a 435i the same as a 435d on the front?
