Lose the plate on the bottom of the car near the front axel...it cut out almost all rattle and drone is about 50% less!

So the "sport" transmission option is for the paddles ? Same guear ratios and software?

To my point of view, i think paddles are a must .
Thanks for these inputs
Yes, if you get the sport transmission option ($500 option) you get paddles and a revised shift lever along with leather boot. There has also been extensive debate in regards to the shifting speed, performance etc between normal and sport trans. I've driven both quite a bit and can't tell a huge difference, so for me the $500 was more for paddles and nicer looking shift lever. Gear ratios stay the same.

(2) Kick you behind the neck? Yes, but the degree depends on other cars you've experienced with more/less power

(3) the ZF8 is honestly quite good at responding to upshift/downshift inputs. Multiple taps of the downshift paddles = skipping to the correct gear the first time. This is my first ever daily driver with an auto gearbox, coming from more than 10 3 pedal cars, and the ZF8 does not disappoint.

All that being said the best way is for you to test drive an AT 328 so you can decide for yourself if it's for you.
ditto, as I cannot speak to how it would perform on a 328i but best to test drive for yourself.

I had no idea about the 335i upshift fart until I accelerated and heard it... Ha.

My perception for AT and all its smoothness is something i try to stay away. That lag feeling between shifts somehow disconnects me from the car vs 6MT where you create your shiftpoints, play heel and toe when downshifting, etc.
Any additional feedbacks are welcome. Do this also apply to the 328 ?

Thanks
Dude def get the 8AT. Its basically like half a notch behind a Dual Clutch transmission in terms of shift times/performace. I actually tell people its a dual clutch tranny

Get the sport version for sure. Not only do you get cosmetic goodies (nicer gear shifter/paddles) but in sport/sport + the shifts are VIOLENTLY FASTER than a regular 8AT! With my JB stage 1, the shifts are so violent in spot/sport +, it causes the car to jerk hard when shifting in WOT or near WOT (in a very good, rewarding way)

Also in manual mode (ie by sliding the gear to the left), gears will NOT upshift without your input. Its truly like a manual in that sense. If you don't upshift it will just redline. Also, It will ONLY downshift to avoid stalling otherwise will never downshift w/o your input.

The engine (N55) in this car is one thing, but the 8AT just takes it to the next level. There is NO LAG in shifts. Specially in sport modes, the gear shifts before i even let go of the paddle shifter after pressing it

Here's a quick fly by video my friend took earlier today. Car is completely stock, except for the ER 4" catless down pipe. My car is also an 8AT.

PS -The farts on upshifts are LOUD especially from the outside. I didn't think it would sound so loud from outside...

Enjoy.
