Evdok my screen looks the same as yours, there doesn't appear to be anywhere to actually buy it?
Some people saying you need EBT, which I don't have, interestingly however if you go on the new car configurator and spec CarPlay, it doesn't force you to add EBT as well, so surely it's not a pre requisite?

After signing into connecteddrive it no longer gave me the option so i called them & was told i have to have some speaker option bla bla bla (what they say & what can be done are 2 different answers), basically i cant get it.....for now, don't be surprised if most of us will be able to get it once the guru's get there hands on the coding/update for it.

The only thing i needed to get carplay was the professional naviagion, 609. Do you have iDrive 5?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't iDrive 5 a necessity for Carplay to work?

MrMarvin is right. At least definitely you need NBT Evo. For official retrofit even the new NBT Evo iDrive 5.0 from 7/2016 on.
But evdok seem to have a pre LCI which has just NBT.

Officially from BMW, highly unlikely. Unofficially it's already available from folks like BimmerTech.

If your car was produced in the second half of 2016 and has iDrive 5 your most likely able to retrofit it from your dealer or connecteddrive portal. Was it an option when you ordered the car?

My car is Apple CarPlay ready. It was built one week before CarPlay production date. I could have waited but did not want to delay the order.

If your vehicle's manufacturing date is September 2016 or later, you should be able to order Apple CarPlay from the ConnectedDrive store once it comes available. Vehicles with this particular firmware are technically Apple CarPlay ready and it's just a matter of provisioning via ConnectedDrive that will enable it for you.

To be honest i don't see the use for it, iDrive does everything better at this moment. Atleast for my needs, that's why i didn't purchase it.

If and when Waze gets a Carplay enabled app then i might buy it...

Agreed; had it in my old car and didn't find it useful with the exception of NAV. Even then, I mainly use the in-car NAV so I'm not missing much if at all.

Yeah, Apple Carplay is a confusing, frustrating mess on my wife's honda civic, and I've been an Apple fanatic since '85!!! At least I got her trained on how to make phone calls, use Apple Maps and Spotify with her iPhone, but yeesh, so unintuitive and quite the distraction from driving! I like the iDrive interface on my BMW considerably better, despite a few quirks here or there in using it with my iPhone.

i called bmw, i have a 2015 late model 435i with 609. i was told you need enhanced bluetooth to have this option. yes that can be coded but you can't buy apple car play on the apps store because bmw don't know what you did. annoying. ebt was the one option i was told not to bother with as it is apparently just a phone holder...idiot...so for the extra £ i would recommend if you are ordering a new car that you get it as it seems to be a limiting factor on a lot of updates

2015 cars don't have iDrive 5, therefore you couldn't get CarPlay even if you had EBT.

Apparently you can...according to BMW, with EBT. Also I asked a few retrofit places and they agree - I have no idea what unit I have but according to my chassis number I have what I need.

However seeing as pretty much everything they have told me so far is a lie, I'm going to agre with you!
