Hi there, I just picked up my first BMW yesterday. The finance manager tried to upsell me on the tire & wheel warranty at $1,369+tax for five years of coverage.

Do many members with stock wheels & run flat tires have this coverage and actually take advantage of the warranty? Or alternatively, don't have coverage and wished that they did? If so, how much did it cost to repair any damages out of pocket?

The finance manager gave me until EOD Friday 6/22/18 to decide.

You're in nyc in runflats? It's a bargain at twice the price just get it.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any war stories to share? Did the side wall get bubbles or did a wheel get bent?

In case it matters, I drive pretty infrequently. I live in Brooklyn and commute to Manhattan for work on weekdays. I only really drive on the weekends and I generally put only 5K miles a year (if even that).

Do you have 17", 18", or 19" wheels? The risk of tire and wheel damage is higher when 19" wheel and tire meet NYC roads. Worth considering. After 3 incidents you will be at a break even point.
