Thanks all.

I've rented cars with aluminum-looking plastic on the dash and there was glare. That experience steered me away from choosing aluminum trim in my F30. It looks so good though. Next time.....

the wood veneers probably has more glare due to the super shiny finish.

I hate the wood in 3 series, they somehow manage to make it look like plastic. Yuck.
I just re-finished a set of hand rails and I used 3 layers of matte finish poly. Night and day.

I don't know...aluminum especially with the blue accent looks incredibly cheap to me on the F3x in particular.

Pre LCI I probably would have ordered aluminum with the black accent but the new ash grain wood looks worlds better to me and doesn't lose any of the sporty feel.

Black wood on black interior looks awesome. The ash grain also looks phenomenal inside the M-sport with saddle brown.

With the combo of metal finishers on the dash, air vents, and doors the wood really makes the interior look sharp. It definitely has its place.

That being said I find that I get more glare off of the shiny wood than I did off of the aluminum. It's probably a toss up so get what's available or what you like the most.
Mine too. Sunlight will bounce off the wood trim on the center console and blind me on occasion. My windows are tinted but the windshield is not (for obvious reasons). Still like the look of wood.

I personally have had no issues with reflection off the wood trim, maybe because I live in Portland .

Ash grain with metal inlay and brushed aluminum looks quite lovely with Oyster/Black interior. The wood can shine, but I've never had any glare problem:

my 3rd 3/4 with Al trim
much sportier

the shift knob in my wife's Jag XF can blind you on a sunny day. I keep a black washcloth in her car to put over it

Is the brushed aluminum actual aluminum, or coated plastic?

Aluminum trim & Coral Red Interior. No issues with any glare.

Perfect combination though.

The hell you post a pic of my car's interior!

I have the hexagon aluminum trim. At noon on a sunny day, you can catch a reflection, but it's not a big deal to me, never blinding. However it does get hot in the summer, but so does everything else.

Someone said earlier that it resists scratches, this is accurate and the trim feels thick and solid. Remembering my wife's old TL which was just coated plastic; talk about cheap. :

I love the trim, really adds another cool splash of color to the interior.

No, you guys took my interior......in all seriousness, I love the aluminum--no glare. My e90 had wood trim which in my opinion gave the car a dark, old style look. This interior is fresh and modern.

+1 on CR with Aluminum.

Love it! ...no glare.

P.S. The shiny thing at the base of passenger seat is my windshield sun shade...

I hated wood trim in all cars until I discovered BMW fineline anthracite wood trim. IMO this wood trim with the M-Sport steering wheel is the best looking interior combo.

No glare even though this cell phone picture has some blown highlights from trying to expose the black properly. In fact, my wife's 2012 MDX has more glare with her wood trim.

I have a rare combo and I was slightly concerned how the aluminum would look with the saddle but it turned out great. The saddle is a great contrast to the black and the metal ties into the other metal bits. I'm not a fan of wood trim... especially in sporty cars. The wood trims tend to have a glossy finish that scratches much too easily too.

Llumar Ctx tinted windshield can keep some of that heat out if your in the south friend. And you don't have to go dark either. Also got the red interior white exterior f32 m sport
