F30 Rear Heated Seats Retrofit
Since I wasn't allowed to include heated rear seats with my Canadian F30, during my ED trip I purchased most of the required OEM parts:
- 1 Center console rear cap with placement for heating control buttons - 2 Heating control buttons - 4 Heating elements (bottom and backrest left and right side) What I wasn't able to determine is if there's a wiring harness to connect all these new parts to the car. The parts guy couldn't find one in the catalog. And the lady giving the factory tour insisted in that the F30 has a universal harness ready to connect any options that may or may not be in the specs for each car. I've read various posts on this retrofit for previos BMW models (there was a kit with harness included), but found nothing for the F30. Anyone with experience on this retrofit and knowledge on where a specific harness needs to be added? Would coding be required after the retrofit? Cheers!

Like that since a couple of years. Cheaper to make only 1 car wiring than to make multiples... Examples: Here in NA, we don't have the rear fog light option. But the light switch already is prepared for that (need a slight modification to have it work), and the taillight already have the bulb installed. So, quick mod of the light switch + coding = rear fogs. To have satellite radio on most of the Fxx family (except the convertible, I've been told), you only need some coding + a FSC code. All of the hardware's already on board. Many other examples in this forum.

Thanks, that's what I hope!
I will explore under the rear seat if there's any wiring and head to the dealership parts dept and ask them if yjey have that loom for sale and what do they know about it (Not that I'll necessarily trust they will know much, ha-ha). Even though when ordering I was allowed to pick various options that were not available for my base model, they stood their ground in not giving me rear heated seats (which is part of the 3 series US winter package).

Keep us informed.
Found very silly that the rear seats weren't included in the Cold Package here in Canada.
