should I mod or change?
few weeks back I bought a 428 GC. since we do not have the m ssport version here in Canada for the 428, I am just about getting ready to spend 12 K in modifying the 428 with M body kit, New wheels brakes and suspension. I am debating in taking that money and getting a 435 GC instead the lost will mostly be around that same amount.

Aside from issue of spending $12k either way, I would get the 435 because then you would have the different engine a long with the M Sport body kit, brakes, etc and not deal with the time and effort required to buy, paint, install the mods.
That being said, $12k seems high for what you mentioned. Just looking on the getbmwparts.com website, the total for the body kit, suspension, etc does not come anywhere near $12K, leaving plenty of money left over for painting, install, etc. Maybe prices are way higher in Canada? Finally, did you consider what you could sell your existing body panels and parts for on the used market? I am sure you can recoup some of your money that way though at only a fraction of a new price but hey, money is money. |

I'm not sure how the pricing or your budget work out, but if your plan is to buy a 428i and heavily modify it immediately to be more like a 435i it's probably worth taking a look at the 435i.

If you don't mind the hit on the trade in and you're already going to spend $12k on the car, then just get the 435i.

I agree with others who suggest that just getting the 435i makes more sense... even with the financial hit. You're looking at a significant power advantage right off the bat, much better engine sound, and an engine that has proven to be reliable and capable of handling a lot of power without issues.

I say be patient and hold on to it for a year. You take the biggest hit in the first year. Who knows, maybe next year the GC will get some cool changes.

Well, I had the baddest F10 that I kept for 20 months, bought a Maserati Ghibli that I kept for 2 months, worst piece of junk I ever had, 7 times at the dealer in 8 weeks and worst customer service ever. Needless to say that my lost was huge with this piece of crap.
Having said that, the BMW dealer was really nice in offering me a great deal on this F36 but it is far from the luxury interior and looks of the ghibli or my F10. Since my lost was huge at the time, 30K, I had no choice of opting for something cheaper, if I didn't opt for the ghibli, I was going to buy a 640 GC but I felt like going with something more exotic... Never again... So I need to either make this F36 more sexier or just go with a 435i. I am really tempted in going with a 435 but it would be like any other 435, if I opt to mod, I will have a more nice looking one but without the performance. Keep in mind that I am not looking for performance so this little 4 banger is sufficent, I just not a big fan of the sound of it, that is why I have chosen the nice sound system so I don't hear the engine. Thanks for your input, I will keep you posted |

Wow you are a car dealers wet dream, lol! Trading in a new car after a few weeks.
But I agree with the others, it is smarter than doing 12k worth of mods, that's money down the drain that would actually hurt resale. |

Also, the sure hassle of ordering the parts...body shop painting...scheduling...etc.
Rip it off like a bandaide and buy the 435. Like my mamma always says, "when in doubt, GET THE BIGGER ENGINE"
