Melbourne to Syd?

Ordered an F30 from a Sydney dealership about a week ago. The car is in Melbourne to be transported to Sydney.

Does anyone know how the system works specifically in regards to releasing the car from Melbourne and transportation to Sydney? What is the timeframe I should expect?

Regards.

Ask the dealer ...they should have an internal booking/tracking system that they can look up.

My factory ordered E90 got delivered to Melbourne. Apparently it was built earlier than expected, so they put it on the next available ship which only went to Melbourne. It took a few days to get from the ship to Altona VIC (probably BMW's transport hub) and then a week to get to Sydney. It obviously doesn't take a week by road transport, but they probably ran the service once a week then.

Your car may already be in Altona (or another hub), so it depends how often they run their road transport service.

My dealer offered me a car from far west NSW I think it was Broken Hill or something similar, anyhow they said 2 to 4 days. I chose the 2 1/2 month wait from South Africa instead. I'm between Sydney and Newcastle.

This is where the cars go when they are cleared from customs. It's called PrixCar.

Generally yes. The dealers may do the once over and check the car for correct options etc. They of course register the car and then deliver it.

If someone is in a hurry for the car, then it can come directly to the dealer from customs for cleaning & prepping. May save a few days for the customer.
