I assume you drive with both chassis and drivetrain configured. I run with just the chassis configured, don't want the box in sport all the time with sport mode. Can just flick the the gear stick to DS if I want sport on the gearbox, or use the paddles if I'm wanting to take more control.

I guess that is what 'f1swk' is doing, I'd better watch out if he's coming further north than deepest Perthshire.

I do the same too, good to be able to control the chassis and gearbox separately.

That's our intention when we come out of the dealers, after picking up my 328i MSport manual in the springtime, snow will be long gone around mid April.
Out of the dealership then right up the A9 to Inverness.
It's been a while since was up that way, got to watch out for new speed cameras. Don't want a letter through the door.

Right, so Friday I had an appointment that I was way early for, set Cruise to 60mph and settled in for a sedate cruise.......came up behind a bus travelling 56mph which the adaptive cruise picked up, and I followed it for about 10 miles @56mph. Flat ish road.

Result?

83.9 MPG according to BMW apps Eco-analyser.

Great result but add 10mph to the average cruise speed and it drops like a stone.

Pretty impressive for 258 burgers sorry I mean horses , I drove last year down to gat wick 638 miles on one tank with e90 330d and that was between 60 and 80 max approx , could not manage to stick at 56 mph buf if I did that would get me down and upto Birmingham again amazing

Yes, the trick is to make sure it gets into 8th and then settle into the cruise. Revs are around 1000rpm from memory.

Get the impression that I'd get +5mpg or more in the 330d with the same sort of driving.
Shit the bed! How the hell did you get 50.9mph on a motorway run?!

Best I can get is 41mpg and that's fairly nannying it around 75/80mph. Usually I get 39mpg around 80/85mph. That's Comfort/ECO PRO.

As soon as I get it off the motorway, 34-36mpg.

In town, 32ish mpg.

Only slight "dynamic" driving (still in Comfort mode!), i.e. accelerating firmly through 4-5k rpm will result in 26-29mpg. Biggest shock for me coming from a 330d was that when you tickle it even just a little bit, the mpg just drops horrifically!!

My E90 LCI 330d 6MT would never leave 44-48mpg and I could mess that about however I wished without seeing any noticeable drop!

Update:

Some more gentle driving allowed me to get a full 600miles out of the tank.....actually an estimated 620 miles as it only took 53 litres.

Did a 200 mile round trip, trip computer showed an average 54.0 MPG. Overall for the tank brim to brim style was 49.39 MPG.

I'm pretty impressed with those figures, my Merc C220CDi manual wasn't that much better.

Really loved reading these pages guys. Waiting for my own 330D E Blue with adaptive suspension and a few other boxes ticked. Moving from an E90 320D M Sport manual after years as VAG man. So glad I went for the 30 over 20 which was original plan. Due mid July and can't wait.

If I want to use paddles I always shift the lever to the left. That way it doesn't revert back to auto when you not used the paddles for 15 secs of so. Found it kinda annoying.

The gear change with the padels is also much quicker moving the lever to the left into sport. Much quicker too than just switching the drive control into sport.

My average inc mpg really sucks. Only on about 220 miles but I'm far too easily tempted to slam it around corners. Or a long journey comig this weekend so might fuel up before going the. After coming back to see the motorway figures on Fuelly compared to my daily driving.

I was lucky enough to have 2 335i, one Coupe , one convertible. Fantastic engine butstruggled to do better than 25 mpg on varied runs. The engine encourages a heavy right foot!!

Due to "economic" circumstances found myseld in a 320d - regulary get 50 mpg+

Situation now on the up and going to ditch the 320d and get the Touring 330D X Drive. Think I can live with 40MPG anf the performance!
