Michelin Pilot 4 on Fronts and Pilot 4S in Rear
Hi all,
I recently replaced all 4 tires on my car with the Michelin Pilot Sport tire. This is coming from stock Goodyear F1 Runflats that were on the car. The difference is night and day with the Michelin tires. But, the tireshop recently called me and told me they inadvertently installed Michelin Pilot 4S tires in the rear and the fronts are Michelin Pilot 4. Is this going to be issue? The alignment is perfect and I haven't noticed anything odd so far. Any thoughts? Should I go back and have the rears match the front? Thank you!! Additional Background: 225/40/19 in Front and 255/35/19 in the Rear |

I ran PS4 front, PS4S rear on my 435D with a staggered fitment, same sizes as yours, for a year or so. No issues, but I don’t drive on the limit of adhesion! I’d expect slightly more understeer in the final reckoning.
I had PS4 originally as they measured better in wet braking on tests, but they weren’t available when I went to change tyres on the next occasion. |

If you potter then I'd get the rears changed to PS4, but if you like pushing a bit on country roads etc then I'd get the fronts changes for PS4S, personally. I've not used the PS4, but did about 10k on PS4S and abused the utter crap out of them. For a road tyre they're very, very good indeed both day to day and when really pushing on. The PS4 I know doesn't have the same peak performance, but it has slightly softer sidewalls for better ride at the expense of handling sharpness, and the rubber compound will allegedly have slightly more mileage.
