Diamond cut alloys corrossion and warranty > 3yrs old
All 4 wheels on my 330i are showing corrossion despite not being kerbed. BMW UK have declined to help me and claim it's 'wear and tear'! It was noticed a few months after the 3 year warranty expired. Has anyone had any luck getting any help towards them being refurbished or replaced. They've only done 20,000 miles and never cleaned with acid wheel cleaners etc. I'm very disappointed and not likely to buy a BMW again based on this poor customer service.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...412&order=desc And in all honesty; BMW are probably right... At the end of the day they're diamond cut and then lacquered. It won't survive long, more so in the UK with the salt used over winter etc Diamond cut is a bad doo for this country and its a finite finish Everyone I know that's had diamond cut wheels has been glad to see the back of them; my Dad's X3M had 3 sets of brand new wheels in his ownership due to the finish getting worse over time and they were spotless/un-curbed otherwise... They replaced them under warranty rather than getting them refurbed Last set he got fully powdercoated and never had any issues; his current X3M is now onfully powdercoated wheels also in Ferric Grey (got them done the week of collection)

About a year after I bought my car, I noticed a bit of scuffing on the wheels, so thought I'd get them refinished.
Took them to a wheel refurbisher who offered a temporary swap whilst your own are being done. Got a call about an hour later to be told that they couldn't do them because there wasn't enough material left to do so safely...and they estimated that they'd been re-cut at least 3 times before. I asked them to simply polish them as best they could, and re-lacquer them...which they did, but less than a year later the lacquer is cloudy and as I'm running my winter set at the moment, they've been sent off to be dipped and powder-coated instead. Although I quite light the 'gangsta' look of the black winters...pity the TPMS sensors are failing - and the spare set I have for the summer tyres are too short |
