Tyre speed rating
Hi all,
I'm replacing all 4 tyres on my 2013 320D auto touring. Current tyres (bought the car used) are not run flats and as they need changing I'm replacing with all season run flats. Front tyres are 225/50ZR 17 98 Y Rear are 225/50ZR 17 98 W Is the different speed rating for front and rear important or can they be the same...i.e. both Y or W etc...and does it matter which? Thanks in advance. |

Well if you’re not planning to go over 168 mph (W), there will be no issues. (Y rated can safely hit 186mph). And they are both ZR tires. What’s likely more relevant is that the tire Load Ratings are both the same. You’ll be fine.
