HI all,

Updated the maps today provided by Andrew dracon@gmail.com , very quick response and good service .

Car requested the key before the update.

Tip : Use a USB 2 and 16GB Usb drive , It could be just my USB3 32gb drive which car wont detect . I have plenty lying around so was not an issue .

Thanks

When I recently got my car serviced at my dealership (about a week or two ago) they had a promotion on for $250 AUD. Which includes as many map updates for the next 2 years. So my question is how often do BMW release the map updates? Once a year or more? If more than once a year it maybe work out better buying it from the stealership?

Judging by past forum posts, I would say its annually. $250 for 2 years map update is still pricey when you compare to getting the FSC code and installing by yourself.

I have downloaded the maps and it appears that they are the "MOVE" version and not the "NEXT" version that I require for my car.

Thanks for your assistance anyway.

Does anyone know how to generate the FSC code for this map? I have the cable and software needed but just need the updated file to generate it.

I didn't realise that there are 2 types of maps available (Move & Next). Does anyone know what the differences are? Is 'Move' for CIC and 'Next' for NBT? Something like that?

Yes, NEXT is for NBT Head Unit with option 609 Professional Navigation System.

There are other types of maps as well including PREMIUM, MOTION, ROUTE, EVO & EVO G-Series. See http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=777905 for more info.

The latest 2016 premium maps for CIC is just as bad as the 2012 version, albeit with a few more colours distinguishing different road types. The lack of street names displayed is a joke.

For US$ 50.00 (approx A$ 73.00 with forex charges through PayPal) he will provide links to the 2016 Aus/NZ maps and will also provide an FSC code after you provide him with the last seven characters of your VIN.

You will need to download the map files via uTorrent and you will also need a blank USB with 32 GB capacity.
Completed the map update using the above contact. Extremely prompt service. Total cost via paypal was $69.46 AUD = $50.50 USD. File download size was 3.57 GB.

Just did the same thing - $69 through Paypal and also received very prompt service. The update only took about 5 minutes, including entering the FSC code he provided. Highly recommended if you use the navigation system

Is this simply a matter of emailing the address posted previously and then downloading a supplied link/code to desktop, putting file onto a USB, plugging USB into car port and updating via idrive menu?

Are there any additional tools / coding equipment required? I have a mac, am assuming as long as my usb is formatted in a way that can be detected by the car it would be all good?

Cheers

Yes. Download the file and plug into glovebox port, not armrest port. Follow the i drive prompts. It's a very straightforward process.

From memory, I formatted the USB as EXFAT.
Nothing else can be on the USB whilst you update the maps software.

Whoever sells you the code will need your VIN, which determines your update.
