MPPK not taking and car sputtering
All,
I have the first version of the MPPK getting installed on my 12 335i. They had the same issues I've read about and had to download the software overnight from BMW. Only issue now is the car is sputtering/backfiring, etc. when they drive it, so they are going to have to link back up with BMW and said try to reinstall the software and go from there. Has anyone here know of/heard of this issue with the MPPK? Thanks for your help and I hope they can figure this out. Tony |

I just had the MPPK installed on my 2012 335i a few weeks ago and the technicians had a hard time to get it to work. It certainly sputtered and ran like crap before they got it fixed right. My car was in the shop for a month before they got it sorted out. My dealership first had to reorder the DME because the one that came with the MPPK was faulty. I had to wait three weeks for a new one.
After the new one came in the technicians needed about a dozen remote programming sessions from Toronto to get it to work properly. Now that they installed the MPPK properly it rinds great and I can easily feel the difference. The problem is with the 2012 models and not having a technician who knows how to program your DME properly.

They did install a new DME.
From what it sounds like it could be either a bad DME or bad programming. It seems pretty straight forward. Plug in car. Download Software. I'm not sure what all is needed to be done, but I would think that BMW would be able to walk them through it. They were going to charge me 4 hrs for the install and I hope that is all they will try to charge me. When they messed up your install what did you end up paying? At least for now I have a 328i loaner, so its not too bad. Anything that I can point the dealership towards to assist in speeding along the process? Thanks again |

They only charged me for 4 hours, which is what BMW says it should take. Anything over 4 hours is BMW's responsibility to cover. They took a lot more than 4 hours to get mine to work.
The MPPK will work on any 2012 335i, they just got to get it programmed correctly.

Same here..tell your dealer to contact with BMW US HQ and they will link both ends and program the software. It took my dealer 4 weeks to find out how to program it.

The current version has much more torque and horsepower for same money. Go with most recent software and updates. Your n55 can handle it. Why only add 20 horses when 30 is available? MPPk cost you $1500 , Dinan stage node gives you 70 horses for $1999. It is embarrassing that the numb nuts at the dealership cannot install a simple program. Lowest employable chimps.
