Do I need spacers?

Hi All

I recently changed my wheels and tires. I had the 400M style. I went to Avantgarde M610 19"

I made my due diligence and found the closest setup I could to both mine and the 403M. however I'm hearing some rubbing when turning the wheels almost to the limit, like in a parking maneuver, which I ddn't before.

My original setup in the front was:

Wheel 18" x 8" ET 34
Tires: 225/45 R18

New setup is:

Wheel 19" x 8.5" ET 35
Tires: 225/40 R19

According to https://www.1010tires.com

My tires are virtually the same (Same width, and a +0.05" difference in the total radius)

My wheels should be sitting 7mm closer on the inside and 5mm extra on the outside (So the difference is pretty well split). Since the tire is the same width I wasn't expecting any rubbing. Should I go with a 2mm spacer? Any ideas?

Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to identify where the rub is coming from before adding some spacers

For what it's worth, I have the 640m's and I'm running 225/45/18 up front for my winter setup. Wheel being 8.5" ET27. But overall size is the same, and I'm not rubbing.

My cousin has 437m reps at 8.5x19 ET34 and no rub with 225/40/19. Your setup doesn't sound overly aggressive, so interested to find out where you are rubbing..

Well, yeserday when I parked I moved the wheel all the way to the left and took this pic. Not the best pic, but I think it shows were it's rubbing.

The car is due for service this week, I may ask them to do the alignment. Do you guys think it would help?

jus checking, but are you sure the offset is +35? the 19" wheel/tire size you listed should fit without any issue...

That's what I was thinking too.. Or is the wheel really 8.5" wide. Because, as stated, there should be no issues.

That looks like a lot of rim lip showing for a 225 tire on an 8.5" rim. Looks more like a 9"+ rim width to me.

The last two days I've driven the Mini, so can't tell if it is still doing it. I'll confirm the width tonight when I get home. Thanks for your pointers and help!

The wheels are staggered, and that ofsset was in the box when I got them. My only option is that Costco messed up installing them wrong. I'll double check the wheel measuerement, I just confirmed the 225's were in the front and the 255's in the back, but did not measured the wheels.

Update: I confirmed the wheels were installed properly, 8.5's in the front. The rubbing is now gone. I took the car for service and they did the alignment, while at it they couldn't do it because of tie rod ends being seized. They replaced them and aligned it without any issues. I asked about the rubbing and they said they didn't see anything wrong after the alignment, they just said the toe in was too high. But after that no more rubbing, so not sure what it was or if it had anything to do with the ectra Toe.

Anyways it's gone!
