320d DPF Problems
Morning all,
A friend of mine has just purchased a 320d and he's convinced it's suffering with DPF problems. There's a lot of hesitancy and it struggles under load, going up hill for example. Has anyone ever tried any of the following DPF cleaners? They seem to get good reviews https://www.buyersguides.uk/best-dpf-cleaners/ |

Not saying it's not the DPF, but I'd explore other avenues before concluding it's that. What's the mileage? Has it been serviced recently, including fuel filter?

A lot of possibilities it could be : EGR valve, diesel filter, breather filter (often missed out if self-servicing or done at the cheapest possible price) ... or, of course, the DPF.
But the DPFs on these are usually good for 100k+ miles unless it's been used for a lot of short trips |

Tell him to get a Vgate OBD adapter and BimmerLink.
He'll be able to see the DPF Regen status, and tell it to perform a regen on command. That could be a lot cheaper than cleaning it unnecessarily. Also for a further £20 or something like that he can then get BimmerCode and code things for his car too
