330e regen experience
I have a 2018 330e and I have found so far that even if I drive down a long steep hill and it’s indicating the battery is being recharged that it makes no difference. The battery doesn’t move up any bars and when I’m on the flat it uses petrol straight away if the battery was at 1 bar before I went down the hill. Does that match everybody else’s experience?

No. There's a speed camera on a downhill stretch of dual carriageway round here. Drivers tend to use their brakes to modulate their speed down this hill but I always put on cruise control at 41mph max and travel at a constant speed all the way down; this regen increases the electric range according to the instrument cluster.

I tend not to pay too much attention to the battery indicator, but the percentage indicator that pops up when you flick through the menu on the instrument cluster is a lot more reliable.
There's only 5(?) bars in the battery symbol, that's 20% for each bar. You'll never recharge 20% of your batteries on one downhill stretch. Have a look at the percentage indicator, I bet it goes up by a few percent at least. |
