My point is that it shouldnt scratch so easily. As you said, we spend hours upon hours so BMW should make it more durable. My wood trim scratched literally after I tried to lightly rub out a smudge with my index finger.

I likely spend far more time in my 328 than you (23K miles last year) and haven't noticed much scratching. I'm not particularly cautious either. Are you saying that just the skin from your finger caused a scratch? That's hard to believe. Have you tried cleaning the trim with Windex or similar?

The piano black door handle trim is very easy to wear off its shine, my friends piano trim on her 3 series looks disgusting.

Yes, I noticed the surface scratches after I tried to rub out a smudge. Don't get me wrong, the scratches are not bad and I can only see them at certain angles. I have tried to buff out the scratches using a MF cloth and some cleaner with no luck. I will try the Maguires product listed earlier in this thread.

Almost 18,000 miles here and also have no scratches. I should say that I volunteer on a farm 3-4x week and often get into my 4er with muddy feet and hands with no fear to touch anything. Still no scratches that I can see, but I also don't really care so maybe I'm overlooking something.

I screwed up- I put XPEL film on 80% of my car- best thing I have ever done- and it was on the first day of ownership- but I didn't do the piano black "B" Pillar exterior on the GC- it scratches and swirls so easy and I should have had the film put on it- cost maybe $50
I still will have it done and see if they can refinish it to as new as possible before they put it on. Other than that I am pretty anal and have a hairline scratch on my burl wood in the center but I think it will age OK.
