Question Question RE: F30 Headlights on Xenon-equipped Cars

As I understand it, the Xenon light serves as the low beam and adjusts to act as a high beam when necessary. The corona rings act as the daytime running lamps. If that's the case, do the inner lights (closest to the kidneys) on a Xenon-equipped car light up under any circumstance? Is there even a lighting element in there?

According to E90Fleet, they are for styling only and are unoperational.

...Not sure why BMW didn't do what they did on the E9x and make the inner lights optically angled towards the respective side of the car to use for adaptive lighting. An answer to that would be nice, since the M Sport lines don't have fog lights, which replace the built-in adaptive lighting.

Does anyone know if the F10 uses optically angled headlight lamps or the fog lights for turning w/ adaptive headlamps?

Nope, Bi-xenons serve on the outermost lights, the inners have led corona's only. Adaptive headlights & auto-high beam (both recommendable options) work fabulous !

Huh... that's kind of what I suspected. Not a big fan of form over function, though I suppose it would look strage to have halogen-equipped cars with 4 "eyes" and Xenon-equipped cars with 2.

Thanks!

Inner lights are functional only on the Halogen equipped cars. Its used as High beam/headlamp flasher.

The F10 use the inside lights for cornering lights.

Would be neat to see someone throw some aftermarket driving lights behind the inner most lens.

The F25 X3 is the same way. If you look into the inner lights, you can see circuit boards.

It would indeed be odd.

I doubt this will ever happen as four round headlamps is a traditional BMW styling cue.

Semi-related follow-up: Do the halogen (i.e., non-xenon) headlights have the corona rings, or is that only on the Xenons?

Well, I dunno if I'd rule it out entirely...

random thread jack, but since your all here...

Anyone think their drivers headlight is aimed too low on the highway at night? I feel like my pass side is fine but the drivers has a distinct V in it rather than the straight line I would expect. The V leaves a massive blind spot on roads. (Ive had bi-xenons in many cars and know the drivers side is slightly lower but expect a straight line)

Also, Im having difficulty because they seem to lag behind when I need them to aim up, if I hit a hill they are more reactive than proactive... Thoughts?

-sorry again to the op but your all here and the question was answered haha

Is that inner light a flash to pass? While the outer serves as dedicated high beam?

The highbeams on xenons are just a flap opening (and which i believe is always on?)

It is strange that an msport doesnt hVe fog lights or the inner lights to turn on as adaptives. I find the fogs work better though as they are lower on the car. Dont notice the inner light beams on the lady's 135. Does it even make sense? A car with xenons that give you a wide view clearly across the whole road - what is a weak inner light no matter how angled gonna do against that bright xenon.

Someone please come up with a DIY to covert those empty lenses into forward looking cameras.

The tall hood with the dipping nose of a F30 makes it impossible to estimate the front osition when parking. - I've hit the curbs twice now. -
