PCD of my 440i with Dynamic Digital Cluster

Finally picked up my car in South Carolina yesterday. This is my first new car and first BMW, so I decided to take it a step further from just regular delivery. PCD was a lot of fun and the car really exceeded my expectations in comfort and performance. It's my first rear wheel drive car and I bought into the hype, so I was pretty concerned about rear end traction or losing control unexpectedly. I'll say that concern is completely gone. Even driving through the storms all day yesterday, I was passing everyone with great traction and stability. Plus, It benefits me that it has a tendency to understeer since that's what I'm used to

Also, the new 6WB cluster is great. It has an analog look but much cleaner for me and my OCD. I couldn't stand how the backlit portion of the Extended Contents cluster was shifted to one side. It is also pretty easy to see during the day, but the skies were overcast for most of my trip so we'll see what it looks like on a Sunny day. I had no issues at night, i.e. not too bright and flowed well with the rest of the instruments. Overall the additional functionality is limited to changing colors (which i believe can be disabled) and slightly more information on the cluster. The center section is pretty much always blank, but I have some digging to see if I can make more use of the space.

Regarding the other options or questions about LCI models, I appear to have gotten Bluetooth Audio streaming and I didn't option enhanced bluetooth...I'm not sure if that's standard on LCI cars or a manufacturing mistake, but I'll take it. I didn't get the touchscreen nav unfortunately, but that's not a deal breaker. They also seem to have removed the aux port from the center console. The new stitching on the dash is a nice touch, even though it's still the same material overall. And the Carbon Aluminum trim is darker in person. I thought it was going to be a bright silver based on pictures, but it's very netural in person. The finish is nice and looks similar to cf weave.

In the future, I have light modding plans. I have gloss black grilles and painted reflectors that i'll be installing tomorrow, and then i'll be getting a clear bra and window tint installed after the holiday weekend. I definitely plan on adding coilovers, wheels, and exhaust in the next few months, but for right now it just feels good to have a car that doesn't make me want to do a complete overhaul. I have a project car to go crazy on, so i will keep this one simple. Not sure one power mods. The whole B58 fueling situation makes me nervous right now, but that may change after i get used to the power or the first time i lose a race to an s5

And last but not least, a big thanks and shoutout to GOLFFRR and Steve Thomas BMW for the amazing deal. Hit those guys up before you buy or lease anything, especially if you want to do Performance Center Delivery. Jimmy and David have a great relationship with the facility, and several of the guys at the Performance Center knew them by name.

Now onto the good stuff.

Build:
2018 440i Coupe sDrive
Black Sapphire Metallic Paint
Black Sensatec Interior
Aluminum Dark Carbon Trim
Premium/Exec/MSport
Manual Transmission
Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster

Oh and I almost forgot. My thoughts and prayers go out to the guys in Houston. We had a smaller group because 3 of the owners cancelled since they were in Houston and couldn't get out.

1 person from Houston did make it, and he mentioned that his airline changed his flight for free to leave from an airport ~90 minutes away, and he brought his son so they could get a break from everything and pick up his M2. If you guys are from Houston and thinking you have to cancel, give your airline a call. They are being very accommodating due to the situation.

It was either a late June or early July build, but I ordered the car in April before it was available. I added the Digital Cluster in June because it was available to add early in the dealer ordering system, but the touchscreen option couldn't be confirmed.

I asked this in another thread but no response yet but can you keep the same display for all driving modes? I read it somewhere but I tried looking through iDrive but couldn't find an option to do so.

Under iDrive Settings, go to Display then Instrument Cluster and there should be a check box for "Mode Display" or something similar. If you uncheck that box, the display won't change with different modes.

Mine was built mid July and does not have a touch screen. I have almost everything else except the luxury package. The digital display is the only thing I know added to the LCI in July. I have a 6MT, 440xi M sport with track package.

Yep we got the new iDrive but the touchscreen must not have changed at the exact same time.

Do you have the HUD and the Dynamic Digital Cluster? I ordered both on my 440 xDrive Coupe (USA) last week and the dealer is not real clear. Still trying to find an answer.

I ordered the HUD and dynamic instrument cluster on Thursday. Car went into production on Friday and both options show up when decoding the VIN. So yes it’s available.

Good looks reaching out on this, I don't know why the early launch for the 4 is handicapping BMW from adding these features. The 2018 3 has the digital display as part of the exec pack and all cars are coming the touchscreen

OP nice car!

Thanks. Also, if anyone would be interested in trading wheels for some 403M, let me know. Everything has less than 500 miles on it now but the miles will go up slowly as I drive it more.

I have to ask; why did BMW put READY on the sport setting? ASS is disabled in that mode and bothers the hell out of me if it doesn't function! The little things they need to consider unless now when you're in sport mode, the car shuts down which is even worse LMAO!

Week 27 onwards for touchscreen. My car was a week 26, but luckily I didn't want it (hate fingerprints).

i do wish i had it, but like i said it's not a deal breaker. i have a small towel from an old set of glasses that i use in other cars to wipe off the touch screen. it leaves it streak free and clean if the finger prints are bugging me.

Yes thats right USA doesn't have touchscreen on the 4 series which very frustrating as i just placed an order last week and i bet they will add it as soon as my car is built Not sure why BMWNA always delays new features to US cars.
