2013 335is OR 435i

I'm sure this has been discussed but I've spent two days searching and cant find any comparisons between the two. I'm looking into getting a weekend car that in the future I can mod, has anyone had both? I use to own a 07 335 but its been years since I've been in one so I dont remember to well to compare.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Can't speak for the 435 but I owned a 2013 335i coupe and it was completely brilliant.

First, would look at the obvious, do you need 2 or 4 doors? If you need 4, the 335i is your answer. I have a 2015 335i 6mt sedan and adore it. I like the flexibility of having 4 doors and the power with the mppk and mpe is quite nice. You said this is a weekend car, I’m going to assume you don’t mind 2 doors. Since you say you like to mod, I would choose the vehicle with more options for modification. Good luck on your search!

I believe OP is comparing coupes as the 335is only came in coupe form.

To the OP: If you want mod-ability, rareness, and cool factor, I'd go for the 335is. They're just awesome cars. I've only valeted one lol, and even then it felt cool and special. Not to mention the N54's potential. However, if you want to make the more practical choice, go for the 435i. It also has great modding potential, is obviously newer, can be had with a warranty, and will offer much better tech. I've had significant seat time in a 435i done all the way up with Dinan goodies (the car I bought my wheels from, good friend of mine) and it was cool and fast and all that, but didn't quite have the it factor I feel the 335is has. Not to mention the N54 sounds way better than the N55 IMO. Ultimately though, drive both and decide for yourself

That’s why I’m leaning towards the 335is cause of the mods. Thanks for the feedback!

lol this is exactly what I’m thinking. Haven’t found a local 335is to test drive thats why I came to the boards. Thanks for the feedback!

Also the 435i being newer with warranty is very appealing 🤔

i have a 435i ZHP, id say get a 435zhp or an 335is. If you dont want a manual, the 435 is a zf8 auto, the 335is is a 7 speed dct. The 335is also sounds mean, i wish i got a 335is or a e92 m3

I really do want a manual but with everything I hear about the DCT im thinking of going that route, plus I do drive an hour each way in rush hour which would make it a pain if I ever wanted to take the IS during the week.

I was in the same boat (almost). I originally wanted a 335is and but couldn't find one at the price point I wanted to spend on it. I ended up finding a mint 2014 335i with nearly every feature on it so I went for it. Considering the upgrade in tech and the fact it still had warranty, i'd go with the 335i again. But I also did a FBO plus tune on my car so it could (basically) be like the 335is stock. I will say the steering feel and exhaust note on the 335is is hard to beat.

I’d get the 335is but just beware that it’s stiffly sprung. The F30 with 704 suspension will be far more forgiving.

Rides 100% better with quality get flats Michelin or Conti. Was the only BMW I ever swapped RFT for GFT on. Quite unforgiving on the 2011 OEM tires.

Went with 245X19F & 275X19R Conti DW extream contact summer tires.

This is definitely one of my first mods. painted calipers gives it a really nice contrast.

Any rubbing? seems like a rather big tire for the front.

For a weekend car I'd look for a well cared for 335is. It came in coupe or vert. I'd only get the coupe. The n54 in the 335is was tuned for higher hp/torque from the factory, and has potential for even more.

You mentioned that you're looking for a weekend car, but if there's a good chance this could become a dd, I'd be more inclined toward a 435/440i. It's newer, so all other things considered equal, it'll probably be more reliable. The n55 is tunable for plenty more power over stock, but the n54 (335is) with its twin turbos is generally considered have more tuning potential.

Def a weekend car. I might drive it every once in a while during the week but it wont be a dd. Thanks for the input!

I'd look for a low mile 335is then (of the choices you gave). I like the look of the e92 as well.

Typo should be 235X35X19 No rubbing. You can see the tire size in the picture.
