So im waiting on approval on the opal white. Should be a go. He is saying only 2k total. I will verify this because how can it be only $500 more than dakota especially with the dash being leather aswell.

The dash becomes leather? That's 100% worth it then. On the m3 the dash leather alone is like a 1500$ option

Actually that makes sense. I just checked and when you go to build an x5, the difference from Dakota to Marino is 500$. That also includes the dash.

I would 100% pay 500$ to upgrade the leather

How does the Nappa leather compare between the Dakota and Merino? I love the shade of the Mocha Brown Nappa leather in the X5, but AFAIK the color is only available with Nappa? I'd love to try and order a MY18 Gran Coupe in Le Mans Blue (E90) with the Mocha Brown Nappa & Leather Dash when my current lease is up!

I believe that the merino and nappa are very similar, however merino is supposed to be higher quality. I've had both and I can not tell the difference. Both of the options are night and day compared to Dakota. Dakota feels like a worn catchers mitt when compared to the others.

I hope you like either white or some version of brown.

Does Full Merino leather come in Black as well or is it just Opal White, Amaro Brown, Golden Brown, Cohiba Brown, Nutmeg?

Yes they do offer black aswell, that was my first choice but with the carbon fiber trim i thought it would be too dark inside so im going with white.

Nice. Since I'm boring, I'll probably just go with Merino in black for my next build lol

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about maintenance. I'm sure getting some product on the leather twice a year should be ok.

So looks like i'm going to have to put up with the dakota leather. We got rejected on the Merino because the car just started production.

No it's too late to cancel since production has started. I could reorder but since they would have to sell the car when it gets to them I would lose my 1k deposit.

If this helps any; I upgraded from a 335i with Dakota to an M3 with Merino a few months ago. Whilst Merino is nice; the cost on the 340i is eye-watering. Stacking up extra after extra is all money down the toilet when it is time to move on; and as someone else rightly pointed out; you are staying towards M3 territory.

You should keep hold of the saving in outlay that staying with Dakota has brought you - it really is not that different; and think of all the lovely things you can buy for the $1500!

Deposits are legally refundable in pretty much every state (I do not know a state where they aren't). If you don't want the car, you don't have to take it.

Thanks for this info, didn't know this. Im thinking of just going with an individual m4 now.

Highly suggest you take a look at the 2016 M3/4 pricing thread over on the F80 forums. A lot of very helpful info available over there (this forum really misses out on a lot of good info that applies to car buying in general).

How much longer does the car take if you get the merino leather approved?

Also does getting the merino leather include the leather dash or is that a separate option.

Don't quote me but I don't believe there is an additional lead time, unless you are choosing custom colors or work. Something existing doesn't add more time.

Not sure on the dash, but I would assume it's separate.

Talk to your CA. I debated getting an M3 w my CA well after my car entered production and he said it wouldn't be a problem to order another car even if it meant he had to resell my car to someone else.
