Dinan 428i

I have a Dinan Stage 1 tune on my 428i, along with an MPE. Like virtually everyone on this forum, I'm looking for more power and torque. However, I'm this is my daily driver and I'm NEVER going to track it. Are Dinan Stage 3 or 4 viable options for me?

I have the Dinan Stg 4 (P2 kit) on my F31 and I daily drive it without any issues. It just makes for a more spirited lane merge and passing when possible..

Do you notice the power and torque increases on the lower end of the rpm range or higher end?

It's a bit of both, torque builds faster (at lower RPM) than before and is a smooth pull all the way up to redline. The bigger turbo doesn't "petter-out" at the upper RPM range; so you feel like it's pulling forever (am I not a technical person, I've just had many turbo'd cars over the years).

Would you recommend stage 4 for more spirited daily driving, or should I just be happy with stage 1?

if money is no object and you can pay for a mechanic or are handy yourself then Dinan S4 is "viable"...

dinans fmic seems a doable but tedious install and it is NOT plug n play. you ought to upgrade the charge and tic(optional) pipe(s) during this time. i suppose if you can install dinans big turbo then the fmic shouldn't be a problem.

dinan stage 4 is big power up front however on the exhaust there is a bottleneck at the cat which is not addressed. a high flow cat would be better however i don't think dinantronics stage 3 or 4 is able to delete the possible codes associated with this, especially if catless.

personally, i'd stay with your dinan stage 1. upgrade to a medium sized fmic, change the charge and tic (optional) pipe(s) and consider a really good high performance catted downpipe. i recommend catted because catless will definitely cause a code and smells horrible. although catted does not flow as well as catless it should not cause a code but there is no guarantee of this and your dinantronics does not have capability of deleting this like JB4 or flash tune done by a shop. if you do not want to risk the code then remain with stock cat.

Agree with Alohasurftoad; I was happy with my piggyback/intake (AFE) set-up for spirited daily driving. If the spend isn't an issue and you want bit more from your car, a Dinan stg 4 (P2 kit) is worth it; I recently added Evolution Racewerks DP w/ highflow cat, tip, and intercooler pipe.
