Blue M brakes

Does anyone know when the blue M brakes will be available for factory/port install in the US? I know it's already in Canada for a couple hundred dollars.

In Canada its not a dealer/port install - its a build option ($350).

Nice! What do you get for the $350? I have searched, but this topic is confusing. And the dealer is of no help.

For $350, you get four piston callipers + rotors of wider diameter; brakes could be easily upgraded to M Performance by changing the rotors to 370mm drilled/slotted.
If you order M Sport brakes, your car will need 18" wheels or larger. This means a 17" winter set-up will not fit, must use 18" wheels/tires or larger.

This is the same as the standard M-sport 335i brakes, isn't it? There just not painted blue on the regular model. So $350 just gets you blue paint?

I'd have gladly paid that for purty blue brakes, even though it might clash w/ my red seats. Oh well. I can always powdercoat them myself.

No - same front calipers, larger rear calipers + larger diameter rotors.

Maybe you're right. I know in that in the U.S., the normal brakes for an F30 335i are already large enough that they require 18" wheels. If they're really giving you larger rear calipers + larger diameter rotors all around + painting the calipers blue for $350, I think that's about the best deal BMW has ever offered on anything.

I thought the larger diameter rotors (slotted/drilled) were part of the M Performance brake package, which is about $3500. Those color choices are red/gold/orange.

That's correct, although it may not be quite that much. There's some confusion (in my mind at least) about how exactly the M-Sport brakes which are the subject of this thread are different from the normal 335i brakes. Regardless though, the option is not available in the U.S., so it's not something we need to worry about.

We're debating apples to oranges.

M Sport Upgrade package is what I'm referring to here (i.e. $350 upgrade in Canada)

M Performance is a seperate option which is dealer install only.

I won't get into the differences because the former option is not an option in the US (and I already stated what it includes above).

You'd have to check with a CA, but I get the impression you can order 2NH for $350 to a US-spec 335i M-sport. I guess that gets you the Brembro calibers, but not the drilled/slotted rotors? So confusing!

Not correct about requiring 18" wheels; 225/50R17 tires on 17" alloys will fit the 335i. According to BMW Canada, that is the recommended sizing for the winter tire package for 335i.
