Agreed. There's something strange here. My settings work now after flashing the same August update and my results are the same if not worse! Take a look:

If you go CarPlay make sure you get the latest software from AVIN. The old app doesn't work well at all.

I really want to try android car.

I've tested the carplay app with my wife's iphone and it works fairly well. Speed is good and everything can be controlled with the idrive controller. It does disconnect sometimes if you're scrolling around with idrive too much though (haven't seen it happen using the touch screen). If the carplay app cuts out it does go back to where you left off. Artwork is implemented differently with apple though. They show a blurry / background image for the artwork. Probably don't want you staring too much at it. This was tested with IOS 11.0. If / when a jailbreak is available then you can use ngxplay and use any app (waze, youtube etc). Apple maps was given a few improvements (speed limits, lane assist, better routing). Music quality is good...but SIRI does seem to have some static occasionally.

What MY do you have? I'm starting to think that this might be a factor. The one member posted a washed out image and that sxm tells me he has a later model (2016-17?)

On a technical note. Anyone know if these devices are capable of connecting to the 5g networks as opposed to just the 2.4g ?

I have an early 2015 with NBT so I think this might be why. Thanks.

I believe it's only capable of 2.4 due to the BT module. (hardware limitation)

In case you are wonder what each entry means, here is I think what they mean:
16款X1(6.5寸,半屏): 2016 X1(6.5 inch, half screen) => Half screen doesn't stretch the iDrive image to take the full width of the new display, and is useful in my case since my original screen is 6.5". If your original iDrive screen is wider (e.g. 8") then the full screen settings may be more applicable?
E60小屏(全屏): E60 small screen (full screen) => small idrive screen in a 5 series? Haven't seen one myself

Thanks; we really need better instructions for this unit, especially for settings and apps (OEM) About 20 or so pages back, someone couldn't get that torque app to work but I'm sure he didn't contact Tommy. I'm trying to work with him on updating my mcu so I can have a full screen that's not cut off in idrive. No success as of yet as it cannot find the file.

And for my car, it splits the screen and shows interference/distortion at the bottom. I have NBT and do not see an option that would be good for that system. You'd think it would have something to do with my original screen size but I had the 8.8 with prof nav. As I mentioned to Tommy, I want this system to work and am focusing on this now since others do not have this problem.

I was also sent one a few days ago (August update) and am running it now. Is there something newer? The MCU update did not correct my screen issue but I don't want to push the emails.

Can you post the version that is the new build? Latest build that i'm aware of is the august build

How can you tell yours is slightly newer? The build is the same.

If AVIN doesn't let you share the update, can you generate an MD5 on the update.img file so we can compare? This will definitely tell us that there is a difference.

How do I do so? Happy to pull the info if I can.. to clarify, I cannot share the update directly and Avin just asks customers reach out to them directly. It ISNT that Avin doesnt want this update shared.

Completely understand, i think that since most of us already have the August update, its more or less if we should bother wasting AVIN and our time reaching out to get an update that we might already have.

Sorry to hijack this thread. Can someone try out if the iphone on ios11 works for. The mirroring? I realised after upgrading my iphone6 from 10.3.3 to 11, it does. Not worked anymore.

Ive gave it a try on my wife iphone7 that is still on 10.3.3. Still working. Quite sure the upgrade on is not compatible to this set.

Worse is, ive feedback to Avin. They remained silent as usual. They still owe me a bunch of resolutions on my bluetooth issues since i bought this unit in Apr. I have literally given up. They don't get back automatically. You sre expected to remind them. When u are specific on your issue and they have no solution they just gave a generic reply or avoid reply direct.

I last asked for software update in aug and gotten a link for one dated 11 jul. When asked what are the upgrade, the response was upgrade on interface. It does nothing to what i have and when i probe further, it was total silence as usual.

Recently When i read there is another update in this forum and asked from avin citing the last file was dated 11 jul (using the previous email reply with the link.) The first response was * you have the latest update* . I asked to verify by giving the link posted by one of the bro here and they claim that do not follow the forum. Guess what, they gave a new link and there lies the update dated 23 Aug. They mentioned that if I need update I can ask from them. However when i asked they replied no. After giving them the link to this forum their excuse was not Following this forum and yet they can give the new update. 😔.

Anyway . my intention here is to check out if iphone mirroring works for ios11. Can't help ranting as I realised more and more had chosen this path. I hope you won't have the same treatment and frustrations. Ive earlier given my fair share in the earlier pages of this topic
