I don't know about the F30 particularly, but on some cars, you can make out the sensor on the mirror - cover that up?

This is correct. For some reason this was more obvious when I got my '09 135i than in other cars. In the morning we are taller as our bodies tend to stretch out the spine as we sleep. Over the course of a day of doing our thing, we shrink down a bit due to compression of the spine. So, in the morning the rear view mirror sits lower than we want, and after work it's just fine, if you set it late in the day and don't change it that is. This effect is going to be different from person to person as well as we compress and stretch at different rates depending on our individual spines. I think it's become more obvious to me as I'm getting older and my spine tends to compress more during the day than when I was younger. Hmmm....which height should I list on my drivers license? I guess it depends on whether I speed more on my morning commute or evening commute. |

What I want to know is why this hasn't happened in any of my other cars if this is a spine thing haha.

Have to adjust the mirror every day as well. Thought it could be an issue with my actual hight changing throughout the day, but as others have noted, I have never experienced this in any other car that I've driven.

My car was in service last week, the mirror issue was one of the things that was looked at. They agreed that it is drooping quite a bit in a single day. Ordered a new mirror for me. Not sure if that'll fix the problem, but I'll keep you updated.

Just spoke to a service advisor this morning about this problem in my 335, and he said he'd never heard of this problem. I directed him to the forums here, and he said he'd research the problem since he hasn't had anyone complain of this issue before.
SA claims there isn't a way to tighten it, and would have to be replaced under warranty if there is a problem. I would have to leave my car overnight so they could observe the problem.

Update: dealer kept my car overnight to see if the mirror would move. They say it didn't. It's not a huge deal, not even really an annoyance. I just don't like it when things don't work as designed. :

There's one way to end this argument.
Put a spirit level on top of the mirror and make a note of the level. Measure again next day and see if there is a difference. Personally, mines never changed. |

Don't have this problem so I am a little surprised that many of you see something weird happening.
