I'll overlook your snarky reply, mate.
Well you didnt do a very good job at expressing your sarcasm now did you?

and yeah im not on here near as much enough as I should be, so expect some delays with responses
My sarcasm was both perfectly structured and contextual. It merely required a continual reading of the text. 36 month delay is on you.

My car has the clunk/knocking noise in the steering. Took it to the dealer: Steering rack. They quoted 2500$.
Hopefully it can be repaired under warranty (still have 14 months). They will confirm later today.

Just in case anyone still has this issue and out of warranty, worth a try?

After 2 visits and no results finally had my rack replaced. 7/12 build. Fortunately the car is CPO and it was covered. Went in this time for a different reason. Since it was in there I figured I would see if someone could figure out the clunking noise.Drivetrain malfunction is why I went in. It was the Vavltronic Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor. Had to pull off valve cover. All under warranty thankfully. All and all Service Advisor said it would have been roughly $9k out of warranty. Car only has 43k miles by the way.

Time to swap my springs to stock, take off the cold air intake and remove the wheel spacers. I got a turbo rattle now so want them to replace the turbo and also got the steering rack noise. Verified it is coming from the driver side steering rack location. All other suspension components are tight with no play. I even check the inner tie rods as I thought this could be a quick fix but those have no play so it is indeed something inside the rack itself. After further looking up this issue seems like this is a common with any BMW that is equipped with electric steering.

Can anyone confirm that the new rack and or steering shaft you receive today fixes this issue for good?

That is your oil pump chain drive module. The oil pump chain gets stiff and/or the oil pump sprocket teeth have wear marks from the chain. You will hear it between 1300 - 2200rpm roughly, in gear and revving it in neutral/park.

For the rack issue, there have so many revisions it's really concerning.
Another test is to drive into a driveway at an angle. In Australia, it will occur on the driver side.

Steering wheel vibration

My newly acquired 2015 335 has intermittent vibration in the steering wheel at all speeds. I just put new Pirellis on it, wheels aligned and balanced. That didn’t fix it. After further review my mechanic said he thinks it is the vibration Generator. Or the steering control unit.
Any advice?

I've had mine replaced. And the column that runs down to the rack. Clunk still there on bumpy left handers...
