Slightly off topic, anyone seen this thread http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=807125

New Steering Parts from March 2013 build? But stating it may be software only...

I believe the steering would vibrate at specific speed and affected many cars but did not seem specific to any steering, though the standard setup was affected the most. Cars after Nov build had the fix. But according to the realoem site, it shows another new fix which start from 03/2013.

I'm on std steering - january build - and it is lovely... am intrigued by comments elsewhere regarding it as the steering on my car (M-sport 18") is perfectly weighted and the feedback is very very good.

What I would say is that it is fundamentally better than the Sept registered 320d SE hire car I had? Which I had assumed was down to M-sport settings but perhaps the november update was more fundamental than we thought?

Just a thought. Realise you can't pick up till march because of new registrations etc, but I had a similar situation in that I bought a car toward end of month and has it taxed from the following month.

Dealer agreed I could drive the car home on their dealer plates and park up in the drive. That way got the car home earlier and get accustomed to the cars gadgets at least. Lol

When I bought my VW Eos the dealer was great - arrival delayed by a week which meant my Focus ST's tax would have run out so they stored that for me and gave me a courtesy car until the Eos arrived, plus they then taxed the new one for just over 12 months to avoid giving me effectively 11 months. It's that little extra that gives some dealers the edge, it's not all about the bottom line.

Which one does a 330D M Sport come with as standard? That's what I have! Perfectly happy with it, I don't need help to park

Drove an F30 with VSS. Makes the car more pointy and takes a bit of getting used to. Produces a more 'sporty' drive.

In comparison, Servotronic produces a more 'normal' driving experience.

They are both good IMO, but different. Either one would do for me.

So, I'm perfectly happy with my lowly but linear and cheaper Servotronic rack. Have no choice, do I? I'll simply have to drive safely, normally and a bit more sedately.

At the end of the day, you get 'used' to how your own car drives, and the options fade away in your memory. They are ALL OK.

I upgraded from Servotronic to VSS as I find now I'm used to the constant hands on wheel thing that paddles and auto gearbox brings. It would be nice to have even shuffle free steering round tight roundabouts. I am thinking VSS gives this with the 2.2 turns lock to lock.

Yep, easier to use the paddles with VSS.
Probably, should have ordered VSS instead of Electric Lumbar Support. But I do like my old back to be supported.
