Car wash cooked my skirt vinyls

So I just got back from a pretty well regarded hand car wash that people bring their super cars to in Birmingham, and apparently they attacked my side skirt vinyls and never bothered to tell me.

It wasn't till I got back that I realised what they had done.

They were pretty much brand new too seen as I recently made a warranty claim on them .. here's to hoping they're reasonable and offer to buy me a new set.

Lesson learnt, soon you'll have no lacquer on your wheels, keep away from car washers like that.

In all fairness this is the first time I have let anyone but myself get their hands on it to wash as I'm a huge detailing fan.

Luckily my wheels are nano coated so that'll have taken the brunt (I hope). Though if they have then that'll be another £70 down the drain

Erm... so let me get this straight, you're into detailing and took your car through a car wash?

Got vinyls on my skirts and 9days and 3 washes later they where coming off. Well they bubbled after the first wash. But i run them out and was fine afterwards. I have put it down to my snowfoam degrading the adhesive and the shit vinyl used for the decals. The company that installed them had put it down to excessive use of a powerwasher too soon after installation.

Another company (who is gonna re-do them) has put it down to shit vinyl and is confident that my car can be washed directly after installation of the new ones.

I have said M Performance vinyl decals on my side skirts which were installed by the dealer before I bought my car in May 2016, I wash and snowfoam my car regularly and the decals are like brand new, 7 months later.

Maybe your snow foam is too acidly.

Yeah, yeah.. I know .I needed the car washing as the wheel spacers screwed things up last Sunday night and I can't wash it until the weekend as I don't have access to any of my stuff (I'm using it today for an outing at work).

The car wash though is getting insane reviews and a lot of respect from people at the moment. It regularly see's Mclarens, Lamoghini SV's, Ferrari's etc so I was hoping that they would be sensible.. either I had the new kid washing mine or they've gotten lucky so far.

Do you use a PH neutral snow foam?

In other news they've got back to me but want to check the cctv footage first to see what the night crew were doing. Either way now I have seen it in daylight they can buy me a new set for what they've done.

Ouch that looks painful.

Looks they may have used a squeegee type to pre dry your car and that's chipped the vinyl.

On an aside I've got a set of vinyls that I'm going to put up for sale that came with my replica side sills

A commercial pressure washer will do that sort of damage, it's not the snow foam

No not genuine replicas from Autodielle.

Only wanted the sills which I've now fitted but they only supply as a complete pack.

Not even opened yet.

FYI. It's only the decals and not the sills I'll be putting up for sale.

Are they genuine decals? I know the cheap ones on eBay come off very easily.

Yeah, when I purchased the car it had a lot of gravel rash peeling areas so I made a warranty claim and Sytner Birmingham had no issues with replacing them.

Thinking about it the clear coat/layer that they've taken off may have been ripped off the old decals too, it adds an almost matte finish to it which the old ones never had.. probably which is why it degraded so fast too.

The guy was a bit shifty at the end with me, just shouted "all good bro" and then sheepishly took the money from me when I prompted him that I hadn't paid yet.
