M performance exhaust - help

Just ordered my MPE.

Just called my local dealership and they want $735.00 for labor and programming??!!?

Now I've read through almost every thread there is to read on this and everyone I've come across says it should be 100 bucks tops.

Do they really need to code the car to "accept" the new exhaust? I am thinking this guy has no idea what he's talking about but maybe I'm missing something.

Any supporting information I can go back to him with, or should I just take it to my local muffler shop. If it needs to be programmed I'll do it, but something doesn't seem right with that. Any help is appreciated.

No programming needed. Just go to your local muffler shop. Installed in less than an hour.

took my muffler shop about 30 minutes to install…still charged me $140 because they were worried about the electronics (plug in). Dealer wanted the book rate of 1.5 hours @140/hour. There is no programing. it's plug and play.

I had mine installed at an actual BMW dealership (Sterling BMW - Newport Beach, CA) for only $125. There is absolutely no programming required. It's just an axelback exhaust.

Call em back and tell them you're not an idiot! Hell they don't even need to weld anything, it comes with a stupid exhaust clamp in the box. Some people have DIY'd it without much fanfare.
