48 Customer Sept Delivery vehicles delayed

HI guys,

I just received some bad news. My new 335i, due for delivery this month, is delayed due to a strike by NUMSA members in South Africa.

The letter I was sent indicates that 48 customer vehicles that we due to be delivered in Australia in September are affected.

Here's the letter (sorry, should have cropped it):

Sorry, had to remove the letter...

Here's the link to the South African news article that I was also sent:

http://www.bdlive.co.za/national/lab...345-cars-a-day

Grrr.... but, what can you do? At least I may save a monthly repayment as my finance finishes this month and the dealer is trading my 135. They've told me that they will either lend it back to me or loan me another car until mine arrives.

Jeez... that sucks.

Worst thing is there is no ETA.

No, but the news article does reference a 48 hour strike, IIRC, so...

Strike has been ongoing for 3+ weeks. It seems over now. Rosslyn production possibly resumed yesterday.

Thanks for the update claykin, interesting that I was only told yesterday - maybe that explains the discrepancies in the build dates that I received.

Yes, the one thing I didn't notice this morning, the original news article I posted is dated the 15th of August, WTF? I've only just been told??? Hmmm, a leopard never changes it's spots.

Just found out today that I have another 2 months to wait, due to the strike in Rossing, SA :-(

Delivery estimate is now the 21st of November instead of a planned September delivery. Aaarrghh! How will I bear it?

it is BMW's internal issue, and they should provide you a loan car for at least a very reasonable rate or free... i hate delays.

The dealer is being very good, I currently have a 318d in the garage. It's not their fault, but they're not charging me at all.

It definitely sucks to be told the car will be 2 months late but it looks like you have been looked after there Simon.
