Actually sitting in it was pretty nice, but getting outside and looking at the side view was a bit disconcerting! And I can't knock it too much because it was what drew me in, and made me be aware of the 4GC!

It is ugly. There is one that constantly parks next to my house and it is hideous.

I've seen a couple of them at the dealership and I think they look good with the M sport package. My wife and I were seriously considering buying one. It was roomier than the X3 we were comparing it with. In the end we held off and kept our X5. It's really a great alternative for someone who doesn't like SUVs but needs the space.

It's BMW's version of the Crosstour, which is one of the ugliest cars ever made....

I feel like a 3-series and a X3 crashed into each other, giving birth the 3-series GT, so it's considered the "accident" child of the BMW family. I always thought the 3-Series GT and 5-Series GT were hideous.
As well as my parents, my friends, and really anyone that has seen it while I was with them. People know I'm into cars and would ask, "What the hell is that? It says 335i but doesn't look like your car?" and I would respond, "That is the Kim Kardashian of the BMW. It's there, doing no harm, but you sorta puke a little every time you see it." But, I mean don't get me wrong! I would drive it... ...right off a cliff...

I agree it doesn't have the best lines of the F3x family. But, I give respect to the owners because they really bought it for function - it's roomier and more about comfort/practicality and not looks.
That said, I think this guy did a good job: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=969700 Lowered on bigger wheels gives a little different perspective on the shape. |

Seems like models such as this or the X1-5s are just for badge whores. I mean really, they handle like crap, so if you need the room (and they really don't have that much over the sedans), why not by a decent KIA or Hyundai and save yourself a lot of money. My $.02.

The GT is amazing on the inside, but then its built on the 5 series chassis IIRC hence the limo level of legroom. That lowered, modded M-sport GT posted above is literally the only one I've ever been able to tolerate looking at though.

Handling like crap is somewhat subjective depending on your goals, and is certainly relative. The GT will not be super tight and nimble like the sedan or wagon, but it will be comfortable and capable like any BMW should. I would absolutely go for a GT before going for an X3, if the wagon was too small for my lifestyle. There are lots of wives out there who want SUVs just for a high seating position and ease of loading kids & groceries. Anything we do to give them an alternative, personally I approve. I do think it's practical, and the designers have done reasonably well, it's just an odd shape that will take getting used to. |

I have a 3Gt M-sport and love it. I moved into it frm a E91 320d touring.
As a Family car the decision stood between the F34 Gt or the F11 touring. After testdriving both I found the Gt more appealing. better space for child seat and better handling. I also get 25mm better ground clearance wich is good for the Winter when I am going up in the Mountains for skiing. You loose a litle bit of the tightness of the F30/31 but you gain on Comfort. The sedans that you americans are crazy about is something I would never consider. Here in northern Europe thats considered more of the "Oldmans" car. The touring or hatch on the other hand is what People buy here. So I guess its just a matter of taste and preferences where cultural Things also play a role |

The F34 is like same-sex marriage. I understand and respect that some people don't personally like them, but I'm completely befuddled by the level of vitriol some people direct toward something that has absolutely no effect on them.
Why the hell are people offended by the fact that I have chosen to drive an F34? If you don't like them, just don't buy one. |

People just like venting about how they don't like it. I could vent all day about how I can't stand Priuses, but I'm not offended that two of my friends drive them. They can do as they please, but I can definitely voice why I would choose not to drive one and the reasons why. That's all people are talking about here, what they think of the F34, why they don't like it, and clearly there are people that agree, disagree, or feel indifferent about it's existence. Where has somebody said, "Wow, you specifically should not have bought this car and I'm upset that you did because *insert reasons*"? The OP asked for an opinion, he's getting them. You chose to open and read a thread literally called, "Who thinks the F34 GT is UGLY =X". Did you really expect to see some pretty reasonable responses, especially when you own one of very few F34's?
