You should be able to select track from your steering wheel... it's the scroll wheel on the right side... What are you using to play music?

I agree with the rest of your gripes... except the headlights, they're great for the price of the car.

I use shuffle on all tracks so scroll just allows selection of next or previous track alphabetically. So I have to press the buttons on the stereo which I'll probably soon wear out...lol

I suppose that all of your gripes are fixable by selecting them in the first place as options?

No digital speedo - £295 option and very good
Instrument lights not on all the time - mine are (go the above)
Poor base stereo - all base systems are, HK all the way
Can't select next track from steering wheel - you can
Poor base brakes - M Sport ones are good
Below par led headlights - Adaptives are amazing (but expensive), but it's not good that the stock LED's are not as good as the stock Xenons

I believe you can "turn up" the LEDs with coding. Nick Murry on YouTube did a video on it.

Sounds to me like you spec'ed your car wrong, sorry. Most items are easy to fix if you do some upgrades.

Yep, your car isn't spec'd right but do agree with this from your list -> Can't select next track from steering wheel. Pulling up the list is not necessary at all!

Base sound was just okay; need to add at least a better amp back there let alone speaker swaps!

Were these things you just didn't notice on the test drive(s)? Most people rush to buy THEN think about what they bought. Not implying you did but that was the first thing that came to my mind when I read that list!

I could certainly select the next track from my steering wheel (430d M Sport 2014) whether I?m playing shuffle all or a particular playlist. Scroll button on the right works just fine and haven?t given me any issues for 3+ years.

This is the OP's complaint as well How can you select the next track with one single press? Just press in? The point was you should have FORWARD and REVERSE tracks as a button, not a cumbersome list on a 1.5" tall screen! It can be achieved, yes. It is also distracting looking down to ensure your "scroll wheel" selected the correct station on that little screen versus just pressing next or back.

--I think digital speedo can be coded, but I prefer my gauges have a needle anyway.
--I agree that a car in this price range should have daytime backlighting in the cluster.
--Agree on the stereo, however, if you turn up the bass at least 3 notches and push the fader at least 3 notches to the rear it'll sound much better.
--Can select track from thumb wheel on right side of steering wheel. If you're shuffling anyway, why would you want to select the next track?
--Disagree on brakes. Best I've ever felt in any car I've owned.
--LED headlights. Once again, poor execution by BMW. Poor light color and uneven brightness, but they're a little better than the halogens.

Agree on your pluses but would add the following:
--Excellent iDrive display visibility in all lighting situations
--Voice command effectiveness and speed.
--Fwd/aft adjustable head restraints!
--Ample door pocket storage.
--Perfect size allows 5 occupants plus plenty of trunk space.
--Classic, timeless styling.

Ah. My bad, I thought the post said you can?t scroll.

One good news is that my scroll button is working after 3 1/2 years with no issues. So, no need to worry about it not lasting long enough.

No worries; I was kinda hoping I missed something there though It sure is one durable button and takes lots of abuse!

Pretty sure you can code it in, as my 2012 F30 has it and it's a lowly 320i at that.

Yep, can be coded; an example along with more info can be found here -> http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1272126

I never did it because it is too small plus I like the analog speedo.

Yeah, you're dead on about the font size being teeny. I only recently even noticed I had it on my cluster gauge, lmao. I only ever check it when I see a road sign that has that auto radar built into it that tells drivers their current speed digitally and to slow down, lol. Those damn signs are always right.

Sadly, they are in the worst spots too:/

>>No digital speedo

Mine does, it also has the HUD (Production Aug'18), I did not select it, so was surprised when I saw it on the car.

>>Instrument lights not on all the time

I guess it comes with the digital display ?

>>Poor base stereo

Mine comes with HK but I agree it's not as good as the HK on my Mercedes and both are worse then the Bose on the Porsche.

>>Can't select next track from steering wheel
>>Poor base brakes

I have the M Sport brakes and find them too gripping. Gives me whiplash, have to find the balance.

>>Below par led headlights

Advanced LED system option.

Gas mileage seems to be pretty low for a 6. Get better mileage from a 5.5L V8 Merc on highway. Never seem to get below 10.0 L/100km.

+1 tech package gets digital speedo through the HUD. also gets many of the other goodies you wish for. lots of things easily addressed by doing research before purchase and getting the things you want.

Sorry you gripes are before your pluses. I totally agree with you on the lights. I wish this was better documented online. The adaptive lights are brighter. Not only do they have a lot of adjustments and all that other crap but they are brighter.

Digital speedo easily coded to appear in the space below the tach and speedo; if you have HUD, it appears floating above the hood in front of the driver.

Right side of steering wheel has a thumb-roller to select next or previous track.

Nothing "poor" about the "base stereo" in my car - works great for me.

I have xenon lights, so LED headlights aren't a problem.

Nothing "poor" about "base" brakes, although my M-Sport has 4-piston calipers at front and 2-piston at the rear. They came with the package/line in 2013.

If you don't like the car you have, sell/trade it and buy one equipped with better options. I ordered mine exactly the way I wanted it equipped, and the wife's 228i convertible was on the showroom floor with full options at a greatly discounted price due to quarter-end sales incentives and other offers. You don't get what you don't pay for.
