JB4 Questions

I have a 2013 335i M sport 6 speed. I will be getting a JB4, but want to clarify a few things.

The following questions I have:

1. My build date was December 2012, so I have the pneumatic wastegate correct?

2. I plan to get the bluetooth module, do I need to get the USB cable as well? That is just if I want to hook it up through my computer right? Do they work with MACs? Could I get the bluetooth and the cable and choose which one to use? I hear doing softwear updates aren't too good with the bluetooth.

3. I do not need the EWG Harness adaptor, correct?

4. Is the Bilet Aluminum Enclosure worth it? Do people even buy it? Seems like the JB4 is tucked pretty nicely anyways in the engine bay.

5. What is the max torque for the 6 speed with JB4? Is the torque tuned down compared to the auto? Do you know how much torque the stock clutch can hold?

6. Do I need anything extra to run e85? May run map 5 with 3 gallons or so of e85.

FYI I plan to run stage 1 and a little map 5 with some E85 in the tank. Later on adding a DP and going map 2/5.

Thank you for the help.

1. Correct
2. I personally just use the Bluetooth and have no issues with anything. Updates were easy, and had no issues.
3. No
4. Up to you, I don't have it.
5. Torque varies there is no specific number
6. Make sure your JB4 has FF wires, new version has the wires.

By stage 2 you mean map 2?

Point of the thread is to be here, for people with the same questions to refrence to and not ask something that was already once asked..

I have a 12/12 build date 335i 6mt and it handles e85 like a king. I accidentally over filled it the other day and put in 5.5 gallons and it's so damn powerful lol. 3 is fun, but 5 is amazing. Go up in small increments. Idk if running map7 with my e85 content will be feasible as I hear only unleaded race fuel is needed. Who knows. Map5 is perfect.

Good accident. I always put in 5 gal...but we have 91 oct. here so you probably get better results. Some people have been using e85 and Map 7--I'm not going to test that, but I did run a tank of Racing with Map 7 a couple weeks ago and that was pretty nice..but not worth the price compared to just e85 and map 5.

So basically stock (minus the MPE) with the JB4 and 4-5 gallons of E85 on map 5 huh? Have you logged it?

How does map 5 with the e85 compared to map 1?

Map 5 is auto tuning so depending on octane the JB4 will optimize all parameters of the car and fueling for safe optimal performance. Map 1 is roughly 4 psi over stock. Map 5 is anywhere from 11-17 psi total depending on mods and conditions.

Just throw on map5 and add 3 gallons of e85. That's what I started with. Add the ethanol when you are down to around 1/8th of a tank. Add whatever ethanol you want then fill the rest with 93 or whatever the best you have is. Do 3 good pulls. I usually go wot 1-3rd gear and sometimes 3-5th on interstate and let the jb4 do its thing. Then it's welcome to power city haha

I actually have my CP now. I just need to get it installed. I may call my SA and ask him for a favor and see if they will do it. If not I'll head to Bimmers R Us in STL!

I'm still questioning my DP unless I can find someone to pass my shit without question for the OBD test.

That's my problem. I went to look for my license plate and they said I'm not due for a test soon so I'm like hmmm. Do I get one now and run it or do I wait until I need to test. I transferred my plate from my other car so I'm not sure when they are going to need to re test. I feel like the DMV may be able to tell me.

Looked up Illinois DMV and it looks like you would need a test next year for registration. Kind of depends on when it is due--if it is end of year..that gives you a year and a half, but if sooner..well...depends how much you will have to pay to have DP installed then swapped. Better to be able to do it yourself, really.

Update, I do now run my regular 5 gallons of e85 here on a sparse basis to save my fuel pump but I usually mix with 93. Put in map 5 and then let car adjust and then I switch to map 7 and let it slide sideways.
