I think the damage will be more than you think. The impact is low and to one side. Frame and suspension damage are likely.

Guessing it's gonna be a total. Headlights alone are what, $3K? Thought i read the frame was bent too. Wouldn't want it after that.......

Highly unlikely it's totaled.

I see someone says the frame's bent...how would you know from one picture?

And even if it is, and you WANT it to be totaled...it ain't up to you.

Glad you are OK, it's just a car (albeit a nice one).

Guess - not totaled.

Our cars, like most, are uni-body construction and do not have frames.

The Total Loss Threshold in Texas is 100% of the vehicle's pre accident cash value. link (part .091)

Your 340i was probably still worth north of $50k. I highly doubt they'll total it.

If straightening the front subframe rails worries you, then you'll have to sell the car after it's repaired.

my 340i is worth about 38-39k max private value on KBB. But thank you for the replies guys I appreciate it. In the even it is not totaled Im going to go for the m3 bumper and maybe some side skirt extensions. If totaled Im going to try and find a f80 m3 for sale. Ill keep you guys posted

If totaled keep on the lookout for 340i downpipes and tune/ interior goodies FS.

And the BMW Dealers are offering south of 35k for '16 340i's that were around 60k originally. My car is apparently already worth 4k less than my end-of-contract residual with 14 payments left on the lease. Best of luck to you, sir.

Insurance companies now do all they can to avoid totaling out a car. My son wrecked an almost new VW bug, did $15k damage on a car worth $16k and they wouldn't total it. Never drove the same again, even after "certified" repair.....

GL OP and sorry to hear. And to the folks who are asking if he had snow tires or not, FFS, HE'S IN HOUSTON TEXAS -- do you really think that area has enough of this type of climate to justify of buying snow tires? Jesus

Depends if he was in Northern Houston.

Winter was always fun when I lived in Dallas area in mid 80s. We always had 2 or 3 ice storms each winter that just "frozen" traffic (no pun intended). Folks just never seemed to accept the possibility of black ice especially going across Lake Ray Hubbard on I-30 in the mornings from Rockwall to Dallas Love. Looked like a demolition derby.

FFS? Really? Take a chill pill dude... not everyone clicks on a users profile to comment on here especially if on the mobile app. Glad the OP is okay.

Unless you pay extra for a supplement to use only OEM Parts, you are at the Insurance Companies mercy.

Only other option is to pay difference in OEM parts yourself.

Sucks, but read your policy.

OK - Not disagreeing but I've never had a problem when I went back to argue for OEM parts. Seldom "new" but they've never given me an issue. (Had Geico on a prior car that was hit two times (hit and run and ice storm) so I had to pay and couldn't go after anyone else)

with all the snow and ice storms from recent years in houston, i think those that drive daily on summer tires should consider all-seasons. I know i would.
