0-60mph in..............??

Just read a post from Consett Mag about a Ford Cortina he seen at a small car show in Newcastle which can do 0-60mph in approx 1.8 seconds!! No picture so I assume it cant be a 'full road' car but possibly a 'funny car' type thing, built purely for straight line speed.

Anyway it got me thinking, I did read an article a while ago about the new Koenigsegg (had to google the spelling)1340bhp One which suprisingly with this power is only approx 2.8 seconds 0-60mph, with one of the designers saying you cant get much below this due to traction issues and some guy called Newton who wrote some laws? Sounds fair I suppose but thought Id check to see what a really quick 0-60mph time was.

I know your F1/Indy Car/Rally Spec motors are fast of the mark but unsurprisingly a top fuel dragster is the quickest, but holly shit it does 0-60mph in a snip under 0.4 seconds and 0-100mph in 0.8 seconds.............WTF !!!

If the Large Hadron Collider at CERN are having trouble re-creating the big bang then they could just point two dragsters at each other and boom, black hole, thanks very much, game over!!!

I think Ive just found another addition to my bucket list! Anyone been to a full on drag race before?

Paul.

I didn't take a pic of it as the crowds were a bit heavy, but it did claim on the info that it is road legal and drove there!
How the emissions would be allowed at MOT time is beyond me, though as I remember it was a 1968 model - and with massive rear tyres ...

Yes have been a few times, the experience is amazing and make sure you take some ear plugs as the noise is like nothing else you will have experienced in motorsport.

0-60mph doesn't mean much in drag racing, but our bike does it in about 1 second. 120mph in 2.3 and 180mph in 5.5 seconds.

If you want to go to a meeting the ones to go to are the European Championship rounds. The next one is 3rd - 6th September at Santa Pod.
