It's not the look. I absolutely love it and keep going out to look at it through the kitchen window. I guess I am feeling a bit apprehensive about leaving my comfortable, safe, wallowy and frugal 335D which had a scratch on the bumper and wrecked 18" allows. I just need to get used to the new car and feel able to use it as a car not an object of beauty and reverence.
Ah ok I get you now. I know exactly what you mean as that's exactly where I'm at with the 335d. Now I use it as a high mileage business tool (which is its forte) and try not to worry so much about wheels and dirt I'm actually just enjoying it more.

Just been trying to get all the connected drive stuff working. The dealership has a genius on Saturdays. May go over and get it all set up then. I can't link to the remote app at all. I can however flash the headlamps of my old car. Could have some fun with that!

Exactly. I'm not usually one for keeping my car clean. Just when it's new, I get the urge to have it looking nice. When I got my 335i convertible, one of my sons friends dropped a bike on it when it was about 2 weeks old. I was furious, upset etc. Etc. In the end, I never got it res prayed. Just couldn't be arsed

It would be interesting to hear a difference in mpg for one driver doing the same trips. I made some costs charts and took average 29 mpg for 340/440i and 36mpg for 335d. I wonder your experience at a time.

Cracking looking motor.

MG & Coral red certainly goes well. I thought about the 4 series GC but was put off for a number of reasons with the hatch opening & the two tone dash, although i would needed to have speced the leather dash.
The 4 coupe wasn't practical enough.

Enjoy

Yeah I'm interested too. Will work it out over time. My 335D did overall 39.8 mpg over 38,000 miles. It's going to be a lot less while I'm playing with it but have trips to Manchester and Cornwall coming up in April.

The hatch is great. Easier to put luggage in than the saloon. Seemed a bit smaller in the back but might have had front seat back too far.

I'm interested more on mpg on every day driving, like mixture of town, motorway, congestion etc. Long stretch trips are rare for me and mpg is always much better during long trips. So I'd be waiting for review and comparison. Enjoy!!!

Two more pictures. One for TinyTrevor who wanted one of the frameless windows and one for me to remind me not to drive through a flood in a brand new car. had to clean it this afternoon.

Garage List
How far does the rear door window go down? I suspect not all the way like the front windows but I suspect it doesn't even make it half way down.

Could you confirm please?

Just been out to look. It's over 50% down. More like 60%. Could do you a pic if you want in the morning. Makes a nice noise though when you Rev it with the window down.

Congrats! Don't understand why you think the boot is small though? I fit 2 big suitcases and 2 cabin suitcases in the boot of mine with no issues :.

Depends what you're carrying I suppose.

I might be wrong. Just looked small to me. It's certainly shorter than the F30 as my old boot mat doesn't quit fit. Also not as wide (driver out of golf bag). Might be higher though as the F30 had annoying sticky out bits (technical term)

If anyone is worried about space in the book - which is pretty generous- then unclick the hatch covers and stand the cases vertically. Not something you can do in an F30 or put one of the seat squab down and you have even more space.

Don't the covers store under the boot floor as well?

I have found that the mileage isn't as good in the 340i if driving constantly in town traffic. My average was usually 370, mixture of town & motorway but this past week, all town, it's down to 330. Still reasonable or me.
