My 4 series Coupe gets delivered on the 26th (Friday). Part of the deal was that it had to be delivered before 1st March 2016. I would have liked a 16 plate but prioritised a better deal over the plate.

Did anybody else have an option of getting a better deal on an older plate?

Take me off the list - my dealer is bloody useless :/

He kept talking about arranging an appointment slot for Tuesday etc as its busy, and for me to let him know whether I was going to p/x the car or deal with it myself (VT or sale). I got back to him today saying I was VT'ing the car so wouldn't need to p/x and he was 'ok, well let me know when the car gets handed back and we'll arrange a date to pick up the car'. Er - weren't we pencilling in the 1st? oh no, thats fully booked.

Bloody hell. If he had a timescale he needed to hear back from me by, just say so.


Originally they said they'd try and squeeze me in with a car by the end of the year, which then became week 5, which then became 'well the car isn't here yet why not wait til march 1st' and now its 'well maybe second week of march'. Rest of that week is busy and I'd kept the 1st clear all day.

Sorry to hear that Mark... To say you are a littled peed off, i guess is an understatement..

On another note, mine was loaded onto a trailer to be taken for it's new car detail...

The worst part is picking it up on Tuesday and then taking it straight to the detailers to get that part done.

You've got the right idea doing it before collection!!

I may just pop over to have another look today just to see how things are going

I was hoping to do same (get mine delivered to detailer on trade plates etc). But my detailer has such little trust of the dealer I'm using (!) that he said he would rather do it after collection where he has complete control of process and handover.

I'm not seen first hand evidence of why he mistrusts them so much, but relates to a prior experience/customer where customer from my dealer drove a brand new car to him direct (16 miles) and he discovered it had had a wing resprayed...

Thought this was as good a thread as any to break cover! I've been lurking for a while. I love the detailed knowledge the collective group has to impart!

Anyway, I'm based in Dublin, and have a Black Sapphire 320i Sport (not M Sport, booo!) arriving at the dealer's on March 7th. Can't wait.

How long does it typically take from delivery at the dealer to handover?

It's an AMAZING colour mate!

I saw the photo on my phone when in work, bit now back on the proper pc back home and I can fully appreciate the paint.

Thanks, it looked even better when I saw it. I was quite surprised by the added bits of flake in the paint.

Depends on dealer. I think some have seen a 1 day turnaround.

Barons farnborough

Used to work at Nokia (now BMW HQ..) so it was handy for me. Plus I had a bad experience at Sydney high Wycombe

Will probably go closer to home next time


Edit: bollocks - dealer just contacted me to say it's delayed and needs a software update. Probably not with them until the 7th! Pretty sure it arrived in the country on the 4th/5th February..

Don't think I'll ever know the real reason for my delay. My salesman said at the time there was a production issue causing delays into the new year. Not sure I believe that having read nothing about it at the time or since!

I called in yesterday to fill in the finance papers and had a quick look at it and now really looking forward to Tuesday! The leather dash looks really nice and the new ext lights look the business too. I didn't realise they had "Adaptive LED" mounded into the housing, but that's a nice detail.

The salesman says it sounds great on cold start, a bit louder and more burbling than the 35i, so the neighbours will love that when I fire it up at 6am....

Going to be a long wait over the weekend!
