My F30 320D M Sport from India (Alpinweiss III / Saddle Brown)

Hey folks,

Here's a brief writeup on my latest acquisition, i.e. an Alpinweiss III F30 320D M Sport with MPPK. I'm put up in India and we only have two variants of F30 on sale that is the 320D (a.k.a 328d in the US) and the 328i. I went with the diesel because the four pot motor mated with the beautiful 8 Speed ZF and MPPK makes this little thing a seriously capable machine for daily driving. The availability of diesel is very good out here in India and you can find it in practically every other refuelling station. Needless to say, it's also cheaper than gasoline here.

She now shares the garage with an E60 525D, X1 sDrive20d along with few other japs. I have been using various cars from different makes such as Merc, Audi, Honda, Maruti Suzuki, etc but nothing else comes close to the legendary handling and desirability of a Bimmer...and particularly this one (even though we don’t get the best suspension as standard here in India).

Here's a little overview on how is it priced in India. Converting INR to USD so that it's more intuitive;

Listed Price: (On Road pricing inclusive of road tax and comprehensive bumper to bumper insurance)

320D Prestige (Base Line): $65,000
320D Sport Line: $72,000
320D Luxury Line: $72,000
328i Sport Line: $82,000

A snapshot of the brochure so you can get an idea of the equipment level;

I'd like to point out that since the cars are kinda overpriced here a rebate of $3000-4000 is quite common on hot selling models like the 1 Series, 3 Series and the 5 Series.

Sadly, there's no M Sport from the factory for the F30 but one can order any M Performance Part from the catalogue and the dealer will retrofit on any variant. I opted for the Luxury Line instead of Sports as I wanted the saddle brown upholstery and ordered the M Performance Power Kit. Took the delivery of the vehicle as a regular 320D Luxury Line with MPPK but within 24 hrs I had to send her back to the workshop following a minor hit on the front bumper. They told me they'll change the entire front bumper under insurance and upon hearing this I asked them if I could opt for the M Sport by paying the difference amount and they agreed. The difference was about thrice the price as the M Sport front had many additional child parts but it was well worth it. The total estimate of M Sport kit and Gloss black grille was about $3500 inclusive of installation / labour and taxes but I had managed a discount of about $5,500 on the listed price of the vehicle at the time of purchasing the car hence the hit on the wallet was not too bad. The car certainly stands out from the regular 3ers as 'M Sport' F30s is quite rare in the city I live. The work done by the Mumbai dealer was top notch as the same garage is also the authorised service centre for Rolls Royce Motor Cars in Mumbai. Couple of pics of the workshop where the repair work and M Sport kit installation was carried out;

Coming to the machine, she drives great and handles like a dream and after the addition of the MPPK things got more sweeter. The new figure is about 2xx bhp and 420 Nm torque and the difference is most felt once you cross the 120 kmph mark. As of today I have done 1000 odd kilometres and every moment has been a sheer joy. The only thing I don't like too much is the high ground clearance but nevertheless I'm happy for now and will do something about it a couple of months down the line. Most probably the OEM M Sport Suspension.

I will comment more as I put more miles on the ODO. This is it for now, I'll let the pictures speak. Thanks for reading and Thankss to various bimmerpost members for answering my queries and helping me out on many technical stuffs. Cheers!

Nice man! Seeing a bimmer in India is like seeing a Ferrari in USA .

Did you buy the msport bumper separately and retrofit it?

Saddle brown interior looks great. Good choice going with the luxury line and adding the M - Performance parts after.

Thanks buddy! Haha, naa not that exclusive but yeah we can say that seeing a Bimmer in India is like seeing a Porsche is USA

& yes, I got the M Sport front and sides separately... My car's stock front bumper was slightly hit within the 24hrs of delivery and the service folks told me they will replace the entire bumper under insurance. I asked them to get me the M Sport front bumper instead of stock but they recommended me to get the rocker panels as well as the kit that comes with it contains all the additional small parts for the M Sport front. Got a quote of approx $3500 inclusive of installation and labour and they deducted the amount of my stock bumper which was a mere $600

Nice! Yeah, sometimes shipping from other parts of the world can be a bit of a hassle. That being said, if there's anything I can help you out with.. feel free to let me know

Happy modding!

Got a couple of more upgrades done, the sad stock speakers changed to BAVSOUND Stage 1 and the M Performance LED door sills. Installed the speakers myself along with some sound deadening and boy the overall performance has changed to a great extent. Much deeper bass and crisper sound and probably a little louder as well. The overall experience of dealing with BAVSOUND guys was great as well as they were prompt with everything I needed despite the fact that I lived in a different country. Thumbs up to their professionalism and customer service

The installation was quite fun though turned out a little expensive as I dropped my phone between the seat rails and didn't notice until I heard a "crrackkkk" while adjusting the seat

Thanks bro! I hope the same. *knockonthewood*

Yeah the left tail got a little hit lol. Apparently one of the bracket / hook broke off but then I got it fixed locally.
